Overview 
The theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally 
require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, 
decision-making, and translation between languages. In society today we can see 
different A.I exist in forms from CAPTCHA tests all the way to household software and 
hardware like Apple’s SIRI, Google home or in this case Amazon’s Alexa.

Since being released to the general public in 
2014, Amazon’s A.I., Alexa can be found 
exclusively in hardware such as the Amazon 
Echo and Echo Dot speakers. Alexa is 
commonly used via voice 
interaction/activation - performing tasks such 
as day to day organization, weather reading, 
audio/video streaming, syncing to other smart 
devices, etc. Alexa is also available in several 
world languages such as Spanish, French, 
Italian, German, Japanese and English.

Today, the use of artificial intelligences becomes more and more common amongst the general public 
due to its increasing accessibility. Although the convenience of a having artificial intelligences is a 
pleasure to have, issues with privacy as well as potential problems regarding surveillance are problems 
that are already being foreshadowed in the coming years in this new era of technological advancements.
