Write an essay on the following topic:
The number of people who are overweight or obese is far higher than in
previous generations. What are the reasons for this, and how can the problem be
tackled?

This number of obese people is getting far higher than in the past.
There are several reasons for the situation of overweight in younger people.
Firstly, food condition in the present time is the major cause for gaining weight.
There is plenty of food for people to choose. The number of fast-food restaurants is
higher and people can eat anywhere at anytime. Most of the food contains high
capacity of cholesterole. Therefore, It is better to use healthy food for daily meals.
Secondly, too much table work and less exercise make people become fatter.
Nowadays, people spend so much time sitting at the computer. They don’t have to
move because of the internet. Younger people even enjoy their entertainment in front
of the screen. As a result, doing exercise is so far away from their daily-life activities.
In this case, more movement is the best choice.
Thirdly, the important point is arranging time for work and daily activities.
People often have big breakfast for working energy and light lunch for healthy
afternoon. Evening exercise is good for a perfect dinner.
In conlusion, the best way to reduce overweight is in food choice, working and
relaxing time.

 Home life
1. Tell me something about the area where you grew up? What did you enjoy
about living there?
I was born and grew up in Gia Lai province, one of the beautiful places
in the western Highland.
I enjoyed the atmosphere, the environment and the people here.
2. What do you enjoy about the place where you live? Is there any thing you
don’t like about your hometown?
What I don’t like about my hometown is its changing weather.
You know, it is cold in early mornings like the weather of the winter,
summer at noon, autumn at late afternoon and winter again at night.
3. How much tine do you spend at home nowadays?
I spend most of the time after work at home.
You know, I work eight hours a day, so the rest of my time is important
for my family.
4. What do you most enjoy doing when you’re at home?
- When I’m at home, I often share the housework with my wife,
- play with my little daughter
- and watch TV programs.

 Travel experience
1. When was the last time you travelled? Where did you go? What did you do?
I just came back from a trip to Hanoi three months ago.
I visited some interesting places there like Uncle Ho Mausoleum, Ho
Guom Lake, Ho Chi Minh museum.
2. Have you ever travelled alone?
I have never travelled alone
You know, travel is for fun and you have to travel with others, your
friends or family.
3. Is there any city in Vietnam you would like to visit again?
There are so many beatiful places in Vietnam that you or I would like to
visit again.
4. What cities would you recommend foreigners to visit when they come to
Vietnam?
I would recommend some historic places like Ha noi or Hue
 - If they want to visit some natural landscapes, Ha Long Bay or Phong
Nha cave are good ideas.
- If they want to discover mountainous areas with jungle and wild life,
they can visit Sapa or Da Lat
- Or if they want to enjoy the coastal area with beatiful beaches, Hoi An
is a good choice.
Hoi An ancient city with old architecture and pagodas of Japanese and
Chinese culture.
 Work
1. Would you prefer to work for a big or a small company? Why?
I’d prefer to work for a big company because when working in such a
big company, I will have more working relations
- I can also learn new working skills
- I can meet more people and have more opportunities to develop
- In a big company, maybe I can have good promotion in my career.

I think that would be attitude towards the job.
When I like the job I can have more opportunities to develop.

It is easier to find a job nowadays if you can show your qualification,
your knowledge and your experience for the job you apply for.
4. What do people often consider when deciding on a job?
There are many things to consider but most important of all are working
environment, salary and relations

1. Do you like reading books? What sort of books do you enjoy reading most?
Yes, of course. Reading is one of my hobbies.

I enjoy sitting at a water fall / moutainous area / valley.
I enjoy walking along the lake near my house. It’s very comfortable.

It depends on what you do and how many people you go with. I think it’s not
very expensive. It’s reasonable if you eat out in some small restaurants.
 4. Do people in your area enjoy eating out? What factors should they consider
when choosing a place to eat?
- Yes, people in my neighborhood enjoy eating out in some cases like
they have a birthday party, a business dinner or dating with their friends.It is
more convenient than cooking at home.

At this time of the year the weather is the best in my area.
There is lots of sunshine but it is cool and warm

My favourite season is spring. Every thing is bright and the air is very
fresh. There are many kinds of blossoms.
3. What do people in your area do when it is cold outside?
People often wear warm clothes when it is cold.
We do not use fires like in some countries. We use air conditioning
instead.
4. Do you prefer to live in a hot region or in a cold region?[Why?]
You know, I am living in a hot region. If given a choice, I would prefer
to live in a cold region.
I would like to make a change.

1. How do you find out what’s happening in the world?
I can know what’s happening in the world through mass media.
Television and social network are so popular nowadays.
2. What is your favourite TV program?
My favourite TV program is the news.
3. How important is television to you?
There are other TV programs such as films, sports, game shows but the
world news is most important to me.
4. What’s the difference between reading the news in the newspaper and
watching it on TV?
Watching the news on TV is always active and up-to-date than reading
newspapers.

Unhealthy food is not good for our health.
I always eat well-cooked food and vegetables.
2. Are there any types of food which you should not eat too often?
There are some types of food that we should not eat too often.
We should not eat high-fat food.
Raw food is also bad for your health.
3. Do you prefer home-made food or food from restaurants? Why?
I prefer home-made food
Home-made food is safer for your health
Nowadays, people choose home-made food and just well-cooked food in
the restaurant.
It is cheaper to prepare food at home. Moreover, you don’t know about
the origin of the food in the restaurant.
 Shopping
1. Where do you usually go to do your household shopping?
It is the best way to buy household equipment.
You are quite sure about the price, quality and origin.
You can even search on-line before going shopping.
2. When you go shopping for clothes what influences your decision?
People do not decide clothes for themselves.
Nowadays, the fashion models, film stars decide your clothes.
- What about your pocket-money?
It depends, but the social style decides the way you wear.
3. Have you ever bought anything from shopping website?
On-line shopping is so popular nowadays. You can examine the items of
shopping on the website.
When you confirm your decision, the product will be shifted to you at

 You are having a birthday party and many of your friends are invited. Three
locations are suggested: at home, in a restaurant, and in a karaoke bar.
Which do you think is the best place for the party?
So my house is not possible.
I don’t want to bring more house work to my wife.

 A foreigner has just come to work in your city. He is going to stay here for two
years. He asks you how he should travel around. Three options are suggested:
buying a motorbike, buying a bicycle and travelling buy bus.
Which do you think is the best choice ?
Travelling by bus is the bus choice for you.
You are a foreigner. Everything is quite strange to you.
It is very dangerous. There is much vehicle.
I would suggest you buy a bus route.
It is convenient to more from place to place.
Travelling by motorbike can be faster but it is unsafe.
 Your roommate is not quite good at speaking English and she wants to improve
it. Three recommendations are made: attending an English communication
course joining an English speaking club, and making friends with foreign
tourists in your city.
Which do you think is the best choice ?
In my opinion, the best choice is attending an English communication
course. This is the best way to learn and practice English communication with
teachers and friends.
- Why don’t you take part in/ join in an English club?
An English speaking club is good for your practice but you cannot learn
and practice with a teacher and classmates.
- What about talking with foreign tourist, it is also good?
In my view, not all foreign tourists speak English well.
Therefore, an English communication course is the best choice to
promote you English.
 Your friend’s girlfriend is in hospital. He is going to visit her. He would like to
buy something for her. He is considering a book, a bunch of flowers or some
food.
Which do you think is the best choice?
In my opinion, the best choice is a bunch of flowers.
 A bunch of flowers is a wish of good health and happiness.
- Why don’t you give her a book?
A book is not good when she is hospital.
She needs a rest.
- Why don’t you bring her some food?/ Why not some food?
I don’t think some food is good.
You know, she is in hospital and she is under the advice of doctor for
food.
 Therefore, if I were the man in this situation, I would bring my girlfriends some
flowers, maybe her favorite flowers.
 Your younger brother is about to start college in a different town. His
accommodation is far from the campus. There are three common kinds of
transportation used by students. They are bus, motorbike and bicycle.
Which do you think will be the best for your younger brother?
Travelling by bus is the bus choice for you.
He is a new student, a strange person in a new place. Everything is quite
strange to him. It is very dangerous. There is much vehicle.
I would suggest him buy a bus route.
It is convenient to travel from place to place.
Travelling by motorbike can be faster but it is unsafe.
While using a bicycle for a far distance is not a good idea in this case.

Woman plays an inportant role in any family.

Their roles are looking after the family.
The wife is one who prepares good meals for her husband and children.
You know, parents are important for children but mothers are more important
for taking care of the children. Mothers look after children in their learning, in their
food and their health.
Women can do housework much better than men such as: ironing, washing,
cleaning,...

I would not mean men do nothing but I mean they should share the housework
with women.
In conclusion, I quite agree that men build the house but women make the
home.

1. In my opinion, Mobile phone is now more and more popular in our daily life
for many reasons.
- Smart phone can do everything in just a moment
- In the Office we can use smart phones to exchange information such as: send
and receive emails, report or documents.
- Using mobile phones can save much of your time at work.
2. Secondly, Mobile phones are also useful tools. They can help people access
to internet
- Just a click, you can join the world and know everything happening around
you.

 1. Nowadays, more and more people use public transport to travel everyday
because of many good benefits that they can bring. One of common public
means are buses.
Firstly, taking the bus can reduce the smokes out the air, and it’s not as
noisy as many other motorbikes or cars. It can make the environment
greener.
Secondly, using the bus can also takes less time for travelling and it can also
reduce the traffic congestion in rush hours in some big cities.
Therefore, it’s a good choice for people to travel by public transport.
It is easier for people to commute to school or work nowadays because of
the development of transport.
I think that in the next 50 years, there will have a big change in transport
such as people will use more alternative-fuel vehicles and they will use
much metro instead of private motorbikes or cars as in the present.
Big cities like Hanoi or HCM City should pay more attentions to develop
the transport to make more conveniences for the citizens there. Developed
transport can bring many benefits for the economy of the cities and the
countries.

Like many other people, I enjoy readings in my free time. I think reading books can
create many good things that other kinds of entertainment can not.
Firstly, reading books can widen your knowledge, bring you many new things and it is
one of self-educating.
Secondly, when you read books, you can imagine many different things. It stimulates
your mind to create special ideas. And, sometimes, when you are stress, a good book is
one of the best way to relax yourself.
Finally, reading books is a way of learning different cultures from different lands.
- Maybe no. I think young people now have many ways of relax themselves, so
reading books is not the best choice for them. But it depends what kinds of
people they are.
- Some people do not like reading for some possible reasons such as: they are too
busy with their work, they don’t like sitting hours to read books, they like going
out to meet other people and sometimes, if they want to know something, they
do not look up in the thick books, just google it.
- Nowadays, reading newspapers or printed books is not as often as before
because there are many online websites offerring online books, online news.
These are more convenient and cheaper than buying printed materials.
- The habit of reading books has dramatically changed due to the development of
internet or mobile phones. Because people have many things to do with a cell
 phones. They can read books or up-date news, watch films, listen to music, chat
or make a video call with their friends.

Reading is one of the best habits should be encouraged to young people.
It can reduce your tiredness after hard working. It can also widen your knowledge or
improve your memory. Sometimes, you can learn more cultures and change your
view-point buy reading a good book.
- I don’t have much freetime but when I’m not busy, I often read science books.
There are many new interesting things and many great inventions in this kind of
books.
