At-Home Activities #1

 While you are drawing or coloring with your child, draw a

squiggle line or an arrow. Make your voice go high and low
with the line as you point to it, and then let your child have
a turn to try.

 Take 10 minutes of your time with your child (when you’re

sitting in traffic, for example) and make it Music Talk Time.
During these 10 minutes, only communicate with each other
through “singing” everything you want to say.

 As you sing the songs you have learned in class with your
child while you are at home, find a plastic container and a
wooden spoon and practice keeping the beat on your
homemade drum!

 While you and your child are listening to the radio in the
car, have your child keep the beat by clapping hands, tapping
shoulders, patting knees, snapping fingers, and touching
toes.

At-Home Activities #1
 When it is story time, find a book that you can sing to your
child. It can be a commonly known song like “The Itsy Bitsy
Spider,” or you can just use your singing voice to read your
child’s favorite story. Remember to be as expressive
singing as you would talking!

 While listening to music, help your child hear differences in

the quality of the music by moving fast or slow, or moving
with big motions during loud sections and small motions
during soft sections.
