CAAPA Announces Partnership with Angolan and Niger Embassies to
Feature Black Classical Musicians

Delegation of non-profit organizations partner with African Embassies to showcase Black


classical musicians in concert.

(WASHINGTON, D.C., SATURDAY, MAY 20, 2017) The month of May is the traditional
time of year to celebrate African Liberation Month. The Coalition for African Americans in the
Performing Arts (CAAPA), along with STEAM Onward presents a concert entitled África
Música Clássica on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 1830
Connecticut Ave., NW, Washington, DC at 7:00 pm. The featured talent includes Nelson Ebo,
a tenor from Angola; mezzo soprano Nteboheng Leboea from South Africa; soprano Meroe
Adeeb; and Lester Green serving as the accompanist, both from the United States. The two 501c3
non-profit organizations, one specializing in the arts and the other in science and technology, also
share a common overall goal to help better the community and supporting youth. Sharing goals,
the Embassy of Angola and the Embassy of Niger have partnered in celebration of African
Liberation Day, usually celebrated on May 25, the day set aside and celebrated by many African
communities around the world. It is an element in the worldwide Pan African Movement.
Concert Adult tickets are $20.00; senior tickets $10.00 and youth under 18 are FREE to attend and
