It is Better to Be Married

By Elizabeth McPherson

Having a dual income, being your authentic self and having a supportive

spouse are just a few reasons it is better to be married. It is not a surprise

that two incomes are better than one. In fact, a second income enhances the

likelihood of the vacation everyone needs. Also, there is the ability to better

afford the unexpected expenses that can arise, such as home or car repairs.

In addition, there is the added bonus that having double health benefits can

bring. Braces are not cheap! Next, getting dressed up for a date just to be let

down is no fun. In fact, most people going on first, second, third dates are

hiding things about themselves they would rather not reveal, especially to

someone they barely know. When you are married you do not have to

pretend to be perfect anymore. For instance, you can wear your favorite

shirt that has a hole in the armpit or your beloved pair of jogging pants as

much as you want. Your spouse will still love you without makeup or with

that 5 o’clock shadow. Finally, life is hard, but having a supportive spouse to

navigate the challenges life brings can make those times less stressful to

deal with. Having that person to turn to on your worst days is something to

cherish. For example, coming home to the same person every day who loves

and cares about you because of, and in spite of, who you are is one of the

most remarkable things about marriage. Furthermore, there is nothing like

having someone to hold you while you are hurting, or stand behind you,

cheering you on. The security of having a second income, being your true

self, with a loyal spouse beside you during every event makes marriage a

much more desirable life to live.
