How I integrated technology

in my project
Aidan Brierwood
Photography
I have taken my pictures in a very bright area. This helps the pictures
get the most emphasis they need for a cover. For some photos I
made sure the lighting was low on the subject’s face, this helped
create a mysterious image. I used photoshop to change the photo
from colourful to black and white which could ultimately add
difference to my image and make it look more serious. I used
tripods and stands to take the pictures and make sure the camera
stayed in place to ensure the quality of the image was to the highest
standard. I used props such as knives to incorporate violence into
my image, this dehumanized the subject and could have been over
indulging however I was trying to be different with the image.
Downloads
I used websites such as DaFont to download unique fonts that photoshop does not
provide to help the magazine become more suited to the rap/hip-hop genre of my
magazine. I used the Parkway Lane font from DaFont for my subheading. This was
appropriate because it helped present my cover as a rap based magazine as it appears
very thug and gangster related. I also kept my work on my personal memory stick to
ensure that I do not lose my work. The memory stick also helped me to transfer my
pictures so it could be downloaded to the best quality.
Photoshop
I used photoshop to do many image based things such as
changing the subject’s background and cutting the subject out to
add text in between the subject and background. I also used
photoshop to create shapes, this helped my front cover appear
more realistic. However, for my double page spread I edited the
image and shapes on photoshop while adding the text to the
image on publisher as it is easier to type on. Publisher is easier to
add text to than Photoshop as it does not come across typing
errors and it uses vectors for the words whereas Photoshop uses
pixels as it is imaged based. I also used other font websites to
download fonts such as DaFont as it has a wider variety of fonts
rather than sticking to the generic Photoshop fonts.
