How to Figure Out Your Life After Graduating College

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFYolTZXidA

Introduction:

Attending college is greatly encouraged in today’s youth, and many spend those four

years picturing a great job after finishing school or fearing that they will not be able to find a

career with their degree. Some know that they will be taking time off after they graduate and

others plan to begin working right away. It has been argued that the period of one’s life

immediately after college graduation should be used for achieving personal goals outside of the

workplace.

Should our nation’s 22 year olds be fulfilling their passions before starting their careers?

Plan:

The topic we have chosen to focus on is what students should do after graduating from

college. Though none of us have yet graduated from college, we feel that we are qualified to

discuss this topic because we all have our own personal ideas of how we will achieve success

after doing so. Cavun plans to focus on supporting what Gary says in the video. He will use his

own personal opinions, ideas, and experiences to argue that students should spend their years
after college exploring their passions and doing stuff they enjoy. Selena will focus on

disagreeing with Gary’s opinion. She will talk about how college is the time for self exploration,

and that it is okay to spend the years after college working jobs you may not enjoy to get to the

jobs that you do desire. Brianna will disagree with Gary’s generalizations about how life should

be lived after college. Her discussion will be about how life paths should be decided on an

individual basis because while Gary’s reasoning may work well in one case, in another it may

not apply itself as well.

All of our individual focuses are connected to what we think young adults should be

doing after college; however, each of our different interpretations and approaches to how the

years after college should be spent creates enough separation to give the audience different

perspectives to consider, keeping them interested in the debate.
