DENGUE HEMORRHAGIC FEVER HEALTH EDUCATION’S OVERVIEW

1. DEFINITION OF DHF DISEASE


Dengue and DHF are viral diseases transmitted by mosquitoes in tropical and
subtropical regions of the world. Cases of dengue and DHF are confirmed every year in
travelers returning to the United States after visits to regions such as the South Pacific,
Asia, the Caribbean, the Americas and Africa.
Dengue virus is transmitted to people by the bite of an infected mosquito. Dengue
cannot be spread directly from person to person.

2. CLASSIFICATIONS OF DHF DISEASE


Grade I : Fever with shivering with bleeding.
Grade II : Dengue fever with shivering, and bleeding on the skin
Grade III : Tachycard and weak, anxiety, low blood pressure, paleness around the
mouth, nose and fingertips
Degree IV : No palpable pulse and blood pressure can not be measured

3. ETIOLOGY OF DHF DISEASE


Dengue hemorrhagic fever can occur when someone is bitten by a mosquito or exposed
to blood infected with the dengue virus. Infected mosquitoes are the most common
causes.

4. SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF DHF DISEASE


a. Signs:
Ø Fever, to shiver
Ø Dry mouth
Ø Bleeding gums
Ø Red spots on the skin
Ø Bleeding nose
b. Symptoms:
Ø Weakness
Ø Fever
Ø Headache
Ø No appetite, nausea, thirst, pain swallowing
Ø Heartburn
Ø Pain in muscles and joints
Ø Aches all over the body
Ø Constipation

5. PREVENTIONS OF DHF DISEASE

a. Using insecticides by spraying and adding abate into mosquitos breeding.


b. without insecticides, how:
1. Drain the tub and the water tank at least once a week
2. Close the water reservoir meetings
3. Clean the home page of objects that allow mosquitos to nest
