 How to use this book
     I would suggest you memorize all 11 scales.  At
first, this seems very daunting and overwhelming. 
However, if we really exam the scales, we find that
there are 12 major scales, 12 melodic minor scales
(which are "easy" once you memorize all 12 major
scales because you only have to lower the 3rd
scale tone of the major scale), 3 diminished
(because of the symmetry), 2 whole tone (because
of the symmetry), 12 minor and major pentatonic,
12 blues scales, and 3 types of bebop scales that
relate to the major scales.
      I have found, even though it takes more work at
first, that the best way to learn these scales is to
learn all 12 major scales first, and then figure out
the rest either by ear or by interval.  Of course, you
can memorize them all by reading them as well.
Some people are more visual learners rather then
aural.  With these 11 scales memorized, you will be
well equipped to navigate any chord sequence
found in jazz and many other types of music.
