Assessment  Process and Purpose of Assessment 

Brainstorm  Students will discuss with their tablemates and construct a list of all geometrical 
shapes they currently know. By collaborating with their peers, students will 
collectively deepen each other’s background knowledge. It also informs the 
instructor what the students currently know. 

Crossword Puzzle  Students will fill out a crossword puzzle consisting of geometrical terms. The 
worksheet will require students to know their definitions in order to successfully 
complete the worksheet. 

Drawing Competition  Students will be split into multiple teams. They will compete with one another 
to create an accurate drawing of a geometrical figure after only being given a 
short description. 

Quiz  Students will be quizzed on their knowledge pertaining to geometrical figures. 


They will be required to defined a figure that is described.  

Flashcards  Creating flashcards will help students retain information. The process of writing 
down the material will improve their memory. The flashcards will also serve as 
an excellent study tool. 

Presentation  Given internet access to explore GeoGebra/Desmos, students will present their 
findings and use the definitions of geometrical figures to explain how their 
constructions are valid. 

Short Essay  In a short essay students will write about what they have learned from the unit. 
The purpose of the assessment allows students to reflect on their learning 
development.
