ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

An endeavor over a long period can be successful only with a device and support of
many well-wishers. We take this opportunity to express and appreciate all of them.

We wish to express my heart full thanks and deep sense of gratitude to the honorable
chairman P. NARAYANA Garu, for his encouragement and inspiration throughout the
process.

Our special thanks to Dr. CH.V.S.PARAMESWARA RAO Garu, Principal of

Narayana Engineering College, Gudur who provided us all the required facilities and helped
in accomplishing the project with in time.

We are thankful to Mr. B.V.KRISHNAIAH Garu, Head of the Department for his
constant source of inspiration and motivation.

ABSTRACT

3D printing or Additive Manufacturing, a means of total automation, is a part of the new

industrial revolution. This technology has gained significant attention in all the manufacturing
industries throughout the world in the last few decades. Considering the adoption of
automation, the construction industry is not lagging behind in adopting 3D printing.
Automation in construction by the use of a 3D printer shall increase architectural freedom,
balances the labor dependency, decreases the time & cost over runs and shall also help in the
adoption of Building Information Modeling. Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is an
Additive Manufacturing Technology for printing 3D objects layer by layer. The main purpose
of the research is to develop a low cost rapid proto type using easily available materials.
Initially we designed our college building completely in 3D Modeling Software CAD and
analyzed each part and selected readily available material appropriately so as to develop a
cost effective model.

Key words: AM, FDM, PLA, ABS, and CAD.
