Reflection and Learning Outcomes

People today turn to fast food because they are really busy with their work lives they
have no time to go to the store and pick out ingredients to prepare a healthy meal at home.
Going to fast food takes less than 5 mins to get your food.

The food industry has grown so much in the past 60 years, we have left open green
fields and turned to factories, we feed our cows corn, not because it’s good for them but
because it is inexpensive and fattens them, and we pump our meats with hormones/chemical so
they develop bigger and faster.

Some of the diets that have been experimented have included the paleo diet, the juicing
diet and a gluten free diet. It is hard to say whether these diets really work or not. Many believe
in the Paleo diet works because it cuts out refined sugars and leaves you with more natural
foods helping people to lose weight

Microorganisms include bacteria, mold, and fungi. These organisms can either be helpful
or harmful to humans.

Many people today still think the answer to weight loss is through exercising alone. While
exercising is good for the body and is still important, the number one way to lose and maintain it
is through healthy eating.

I feel like before taking this course I already had the general idea of what living a
healthy lifestyle consists of. I learned regular nutrients and minerals are vital to your body
however an excessive amount of much can be either harmful or pointless. I am glad I took this
class because I have made a menu at my house that includes all the things I have in the kitchen
and the nutritionals facts of each item. So next time I am trying to cook up something I can
make a healthy dense dish/meal.
