The “International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination” is

one of the most important documents created by the UN in many ways. The policies listed in
this document needed to be informed long ago before the time of the UN, but they weren’t. I
think this is an important international law, because no one should have different rights due to
the fact of what color their skin is or where they come from. I don’t think someone should be
able to refuse someone something just because they are black or they come from some other
country. I believe that one of the most important points made in this document is Article 5. In this
article it lists in specifics what every person should have no matter of race, ethnicity, or
nationality. This document specifically deals with equality of rights based on ethnicity, race, and
color of skin and not with gender and other factors about people. The other past documents
fought against the discrimination of rights based on everything including in gender, age and
levels of disabilities. This needed to be created because to many countries were not supporting
all of the ethnic groups no matter how large or small the group is (3rd Page of Module 3 Video
Lecture). This document needs to be enforced because I believe everyone should be treated
the same, no matter where they come from or what color their skin is. Nobody should be
discriminated from any right that someone else has. This document is enforced by a community
created by the document in Article 8 and it’s powers are described in the Articles followed. They
can and should enforce the terms listed in the document, specifically in the countries that signed
and agreed to the document but also overall in most places. This document is a very vital in the
fight for equality for all people and specifically all ethnic groups in most countries around the
world.
