I believe that a state has the right to intervene in another nation’s affairs when it comes

to any large scale human rights issue. This includes any issues from mass genocide to the
keeping people from enjoying their guaranteed rights. It should be the responsibility of other
nations to protect the rights of everyone in the world, because no one should be able to withhold
anyone’s guaranteed rights. I believe that if one nation sees another nation disrespecting people
in this way and do nothing about it are just as guilty as the nation committing this heinous crime.
Also, if a nation is committing mass genocide, it should again be the responsibility of other
nations to go in and try to stop that nation from killing anyone. For example, what the Germans
were doing in the Holocaust was wrong and many nations stepped in to try and stop them. This
is what I believe that should happen all across the world. The cases should not have to be so
severe for other nations and states to step in and help. Another reason for another nation to
intervene would be when the Geneva Convention is not followed during any point. The Geneva
Convention was created to protect the people who were captured during times of war and are
being imprisoned(Ishay pg 497-499). If people are withholding these articles from from any
person is heinous and should not be allowed. Even though Donnelly states in section 1 and 2 of
chapter 15 that it should be illegal for any outside state to interfere with internal matters of
another state, I still think they should under certain circumstances(Donnelly pg 254-255). If no
one intervened during the Holocaust, then many more people would have died during
Germany’s campaign to in their minds purify the human race. If people followed that statement
that Donnelly made, there would be a lot more death in this world. So overall, no matter what
other nations say, I think that other outside nations should intervene in other nations internal
matters if and only if heinous humanitarian are occuring in that nation.
