Argumentative Reflection
11th grade English. In this assignment, I was asked to read and summarize two articles about
consequences and benefits of having single-gender classrooms. After reading the article, I was
required to write research paper to argue whether districts should switch to single-gender
evidence, and establish a position that school districts should remain as mixed-gender
classrooms. This assignment fits the category of argumentative because I investigated the topic
This assignment shows that I am a Critical Thinker because I was able to analyze two
reliable articles from the internet to support my position. In addition, it also shows that I am a
critical thinker by listening to my classmates opinions that defend my claim. Furthermore, I was
a critical Thinker because I was able to analyze evidence both side to conclude my final position.
This assignment helped me work towards being a critical thinker by reading reliable sources,
articles, and evaluating evidence from both sides of the argument to conclude my final thoughts.
In addition, I was a critical thinker by interviewing my stepmother about her thoughts on the
argument, “mixed gender vs. single gender classrooms”. Lastly, I was able to create and structure
my argument in essay format using reliable evidence, quotes with annotations, and explicit
points.

This assignment has allowed me to grow as a student. Before, I was unable to direct my
points in my essays. However, now I am able to analyze and connect my evidence to my claim in
my essays. I will continue to use academic vocabulary, and clarity in writing. I need to improve
on is analyzing the text by reading thoroughly and annotating and developing better time
writing skill in my future college essays by drafting a graphic organizer before writing my essay
