 Students may provide their outline of the Apostles’ Creed as an

Instructions for teachers

1. Recall and make connections with relevant prior learning in Church 6.1.
For example:
 the parable of the Good Samaritan as an example of Jesus teaching how people should share
in God’s work
 the Two Great Commandments
 the parable of the Talents as an example of God’s compassion

2. Explicitly teach about the Profession of Faith (Creed) and explain how the Apostles’ Creed is a
statement of Christian beliefs that helps people to live the teachings of Jesus.
For example:
 The Profession of Faith is about the beliefs of the Catholic Church community
 The word creed comes from the Latin word credo, which means I believe
 The Apostles’ Creed is an old statement of what Christians believed. Apostle’s Creed has
three parts, called articles:
a. The First Article states a belief in God the Father
b. The Second Article states a belief in God the Son
c. The Third Article states a belief in God the Holy Spirit

3. Introduce and complete the assessment task.


 Allow time for research about the Apostles’ Creed
 Refer to LA9 Resource Sheet
 Recall the features of a news bulletin

Task

Outline how people are guided by the Apostles’ Creed to live as Jesus taught.

Include the following within the bulletin:

 Recall the Apostles’ Creed


 Explain how the Apostles’ Creed helps guide people to live as Jesus taught

Present the outline as a news bulletin prepared by your local bishop for the parishes within his
diocese. The information on the bulletin may be used in a Power Point for a parish information night
where parents with children celebrating Confirmation will gather.
