Nuclear Risks Reflection

Distrust. Something that has been going on for ages. Recently, as the United States

Trump Administration has decided to withdraw treaties with Russia, this has created a whole

new bubble of distrust that may never be able to be regained. Our treaties first began during the

Cold War and have lasted up until now. This is especially bad that the U.S. has been

withdrawing treaties due to the fact that they can take years, sometimes even decades to create

and agree on. The fact that the U.S. revoked their treaty with Russia is especially a problem

because the U.S. never consulted with England to do so. The United States did not even think

about how revoking their treaty would affect England, and it turns out that Trump’s choice to

revoke greatly impacted England in a negative way. The reason behind all of this is the fact that

the U.S. thought Russia was building nuclear weapons, violating the treaty they had. In fear,

Trump decided he did not want the United States to be a part of such a dangerous situation and

pulled out, in concern for only his country. This is problematic however, because now, many

countries are mad at us for deciding to not be a part of this treaty anymore and has caused

conflicts with nations whom we never thought we’d have. Our first establishments of trust began

with other nations began during the Cold War. We can only get back to that trust if we continue

to have faith in our supporting nations. Although things like nuclear bombing are scary, our

world needs to consult with one another in order to get back to a place where other countries can

trust us, and we can trust our allies once again.
