The researchers implemented the intervention five days. Grade 10 Section Falcata is an
afternoon class their scheduled time starts at 2:00pm to 3:00pm. Before the class starts
the researchers imposed the house rules which are the LRP (Listen, Respect,
Participate) but the rules seemed to be not enough to discipline the students (Jordahl,
2014). The researchers decided to make an intervention that will diminish their
misbehavior. The class were informed that they will be grouped into six and will be
given a task. Each group must monitor the other groups and write their observations in
a ¼ sheet of paper by giving deduction points to the group who misbehaves. After the
class session, each group must submit their observation to the teacher to be realized.
The researchers informed the students about the new rule to be implemented on
the first day of implementation. The rule implemented was to deduct points on the
students who misbehave. First, the students are grouped into five groups, these groups
is permanent for the Mathematics class where the researcher is the teacher. These
groups have the same number of members and they seated to their designated groups.
Each group must prepare a ¼ sheet of paper and they will state their group number
above portion of the paper with the date at the right corner. On the body of the paper,
the other group numbers will be presented. The researchers told the students that if the
members of each group sleeps, talking with his/her seatmate that is not connected to
the lesson, and using of cell phones they will put a point on the designated group who
commit the mentioned misbehaviors. Since each member of the group are accountable
to each other, every member of the group has the right to tap their member who
misbehaves so that they will not be given deduction points. The students may deduct
points to the group when its member displays the kind of misbehavior stated above for
60 seconds. As the teacher enters the room, the rule implemented was effective and the
sheet of paper will be collected right after the session. The points gathered will be
deducted to each member’s participation points. The sample sheet of paper is shown
below:
