Parisians watched in shock along the river Seine as the Notre-Dame Cathedral burned.

The fire destroyed it's spire and roof but it could have been much worse. Firefighters managed to
save the main stone structure, as well as the Cathedral's two towers.

Also rescued were the many priceless relics housed inside.

Now authorities are looking to find exactly what caused the blaze, as hundreds of millions of
euros have already been pledged to rebuild it.

Over 1 billion now so it will get rebuilt and I’m sure the absolutely best and most skilled
craftsman from around the world will have hands on this project. The safety and quality control
im sure will be impeccable this time around.

Well people can and will spend their money on whatever they choose and if they want to donate
it whether it’s needed or not then it’s their right. Anyone who has ever felt with any kind of
insurance knows it takes forever to get payouts especially when it involves large amounts and I
doubt the renovation company or the church had enough insurance coverage to cover that sort
of repairs. The billion received came unsolicited from those rich donors. Anyone complaining
about what other things they should have donated the money to is idiotic especially when most
of the people making the complaints have more than likely never donated anything substantial
to any charity themselves.

Les plafonds d'églises étaient toutes en bois aux temps anciens et ils brûlaient, c'est pourquoi on
a fait des voûtes en pierre, d'abord en berceau dans l'art roman, puis en ogives dans l'art
cistercien et l'art gothique. Le problème est la charpente entre les voûtes et la toiture qui reste
en bois et qui présentait moins de risque pour le gros de l'édifice puisque séparée de l'intérieur
de l'édifice. D'autre part, les voûtes sont un élément essentiel de l'architecture visible du
monument. Aujourd'hui, il semble que ce ne serait pas raisonnable de reconstituer une
charpente en bois à l'ancienne du point de vue écologique vu la quasi-forêt que celà
impliquerait. Il est possible de remplacer cette charpente en bois par du matériau moderne
beaucoup plus léger qui ne serait pas inflammable, pèserait beaucoup moins sur les voûtes de
pierre et ne sont en tout état de cause pas visible, donc ne portent pas atteint à l'esthétique du
monument. La partie des voûtes qui s'est effondrée sera réparée en sous-oeuvre.

@NanoRussian Bot Yes, all we want is an honest investigation. Still I doubt a cigarette caused the
fire...the heat from a cigarette is not enough to combust wood, even old dry wood, that's a
scientific fact. It is definately caused by humans - either through neglect or through arson...that's
the question. If it was an "accident" due to the renovation, then the renovating company and the
workmen would be under arrest and being questioned for negligence already, according to
French law (Presumed guilty until proven innocent)....But there's no action so far. It seems the
Macron government is focussed on the theme of unity rather than the finding out of Truth. He
hopes to use the fire as a turning point - Rebuild Notre Dame and rebuild his political
fortunes...that is so obvious.

A lot of stupid conspiracy theories out there. The roof of notre dame is supported by WOODEN
BUTTRESSING, to any architect that is literally kindling to a fire. That is why the fires started in
the roof, which is why the fire spread so rapidly and the wooden scaffolding with the renovation
work made it worse. It's lucky that renovation work was already happening as important pieces
of art antiquity was already removed. This will be a good opportunity to remake the roof without
wood

repairs but the bus station in Paris is dirty, the toilets are a disgrace, the station has no places to

I understand people are sad and upset, but we must realise that buildings such as this are
symbols of the Western patriarchy; fear and intimidation by the Catholic Church, repression of
women and LGBT, and white supremacy. How can the most vulnerable in society move forward
with symbols of hate all around us? Europe we must aim to remove these symbols of repression.
As I say, some people may be upset, but we should use this opportunity to be progressive.
