Reflection on Task 3

During my teaching practice this semester in Alwaleed

School for Boys, I attended an English class with another teacher
because my mentor school teacher is teaching mathematics.
The class I observed was grade three, and the teacher taught
them reading and writing lesson. The teacher used multiple
strategies with her students.
I noticed that the classroom environment contains many
prints in different boards. Firstly, Look at our best work! This
board contains students work and according to the course,
putting students' work in class makes them feel proud of
themselves and encourages other students to work hard to put
their work in front of everyone. Next, Days of the week and
Months of the year. The aim is students will learn about the
days and the months, also she put in this section the day of
yesterday and tomorrow day. Lastly, Golden rules: In this part
the teacher sets the rules for the class, I like that the place of
the part is on the right side when you enter the class so that
when students enter the class take note of the rules.
On one hand, the teacher used two strategies to teach
reading to her students. The first strategy was independent
reading strategy which means, students read alone without
teacher scaffold. She asked some students to pick any story and
read it silently. The other reading strategy was the buddy
reading which means, two students take turns to read together,
so she chooses the pairs and she asked them to pick one story
and take turns to read it, also when the student finished from
the activity quickly the teacher allowed him to go to the reading
part and let him choose which books he wanted there is specific
area for reading in her classroom.
moreover, she chooses good writing strategy with her
learners during the lesson which is, writing alone strategy. She
asked them to write sentences form there thinking, and she
help the when they want some word spalling
In future with my learners, I will use her strategies I think it
is good for make the student developing and it is good skill for
scaffolding.
