MY JMUKE EXPERIENCE

This semester, I was involved with two "JMUke" events. This

organization creates experiences in the Harrisonburg
community that allow locals to learn ukulele and play along
in a student-led jam session. My responsibilities included
creating an experience design, slides to be used for chords,
and leading two songs at the actual event.

PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE
Through this experience, I learned to apply
national standards to an engaging musical
experience outside of the traditional
classroom.

INSTRUCTIONAL PLANNING
The slides created by my colleagues and I
successfully allow the participants to
connect the colors, chords, and lyrics on the
slides to create a successful musical
experience.

INSTRUCTIONAL DELIVERY
Using the experience design created for the
event, facilitators were able to stay on task
and adapt to fit the needs of the audience.

PEDAGOGY PRINCIPLES
Create a curriculum that is accomodating to
everyone while still having a clean and neat
overall aesthetic.
It is important to design an experience that is
appropriate for the intended audience (ie:
older crowd would enjoy more classic rock
while college age crowd would enjoy more pop
songs.
