Spreadsheets Path To Math Petti

The document discusses how spreadsheets can be used to understand math concepts in a dynamic way. It provides examples of creating and extending patterns without and with formulas, performing data analysis using sorting, graphs and statistics, using sliders, and exploring other math applications like magic squares and Pascal's triangle. Spreadsheets allow instant extending of patterns, self-quizzing, and calculating things like compound interest over time.

There is also a linked cell (V8) on this sheet that displays the actual value of the
slider. Sliders cannot go below 0. But if we subtract 10 from the linked cell and
display this value near the slider (in this case, as the value of X), we've created a
slider that appears to go below 0.

Finding Square Roots
Yes, there is a SQRT function! But it's fun to derive a square root using
the guess-and-check method or the Babylonian method.

In the Babylonian method, we make a random guess between 0 and the

target number. After that, the new guess is the average of the divisor and
quotient.
