Disaster Relief Campaign

Have you ever taken your belongings and house for granted? People all over the world
lose everything due to natural disasters, and they can’t do anything to control it. Specifically the
wildfires that just recently happened in California. Many people, rich and poor, lost everything to
the wildfires, including 11,000 homes destroyed and took the lives of 77 people. Victims were
forced to grab whatever they could and evacuate. California is plagued with wildfires with many
going undocumented on top of the drought California has been enduring. Throughout all of the
wildfires and the drought the Red Cross has been helping all victims of the wildfires.

Our groups goal is to raise awareness for the California wildfires. We want to make a
GoFundMe and help in anyway that we can. The organization we chose to raise money for is
the Red Cross Organization. We’ve done our research and the Red Cross Organization is a
credible source and as of right now are working on helping the victims of the fire with 257,000
meals provided, 43,500 overnight stays in their shelters, have given away 61,000 relief items, as
well as mental health care to the 42,500 people that were affected. There are still many in need
and that’s where my group and I will try and help however we can.

With our group, we have four members. Dawson Cloward, DJ Jackson, Payton Durfey,
and myself, Tyson Hoggan. Since each of us need six hours each, we are going to campaign
our GoFundMe, by using our social media accounts, and creating effective posters to campaign
our GoFundMe. We will also be filming and editing a video to further campaign it. All of this,
including the time we spend getting the GoFundMe setup as well as managing it and making
sure the money gets to where it’s supposed to be. We will also be buying supplies such as
markers and paper for our posters, and taking the time to come up with a thoughtful social
media post to get others to donate to our cause.

Although, there are not many concerns with this project, there are definently some we
need to address. Some of these include putting up posters in our community as well as the
school. Our posters will be clean and professional and will not interfere with anything or anyone
else. We will raise the money on our GoFundMe and will be directly transferred to the American
Red Cross Organization as a donation. Lastly, everyone in our group getting each six hours,
with four members this might seem difficult, but it will be quite easy. Taking into perspective of
all of the things we are doing to campaign and raise awareness will be more then enough for
our participation. We are all commited to this idea and hope it is a success.

We believe this can bring our community together and support the people suffering in
California and help however we can with our donations.
