Theme: OTC for Hemorrhoids, teething and diaper rash

Reflection

Objectives

 Interview the patient and gather information that is required to

decide either to provide self-treatment or referral for patients with
hemorrhoids, diaper rash, teething or wound/injury symptoms.
 Identify the exclusions for self-care with hemorrhoids, diaper
rash, teething or wound/injury symptoms.
 Recommend OTC options for patients with hemorrhoids, diaper
rash, teething or wound/injury symptom medications and non-
pharmacological measures for symptoms of hemorrhoids, diaper
rash, teething or wound/injury.

Strength

 I got to bring and reflect actual practice to the students and help
them see things from a patient’s perspective
 Being in practice and educating many patients enabled me to
provide valuable feedback and points for consideration to
students
 I was able to help the students in interacting with different patient
background
 I was well prepared and answered all students’ questions

Areas for improvements

 Students struggled with gathering patient’s information and tend

to omit some questions.
 Students need to integrate patient’s information of past history to
improve decision making and advice.
 I should have provided a checklist for students to follow
