Declaration Analysis
Jefferson Thomas declares two countries independent from each other. Thomas Jefferson
explores the universal theme of all men are created equally. No one is supposed to override the
other right. Government should be responsible for protection of public property and their life.
Thomas Jefferson frequently expresses the theme of equality throughout the document.
one of the first examples is evident when he states “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that
all men are created equal”. Thomas Jefferson frequently points out the reasons for independency
and why the King of Britain should not rule over them because men are equal.
The Declaration of Independence has diversity by using many literary devices. One very
evident device used is mood. The mood is first established when Thomas first says “that among
these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness” this shows a very hopeful mood for better
living standards and not being ruled by others from another country. Another example to
establish the mood; hopefulness is “that whenever any form of government becomes destructive
of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it” this shows that if the people are
not satisfied they can change what they using their unity.

This is used to effect the body of the document, as he is listing the things that the colonists hold
against the King. In the beginning he list the things all mankind should have the right to. Thomas
states “ Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." These rights are given to man when they are
born and any type of government that tries to come against should be abolished. He then follows
in the same lines when he comments “we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes
and our sacred honor.” Jefferson is again explaining the theme by using repetition.
Throughout the the text many literary devices are used in order to cement the theme of
equality throughout the text. In the text Jefferson states many things like how men are born with
their pursuit of happiness or liberty. Governments should never have the right to abolish their
rights to life.
