1. Title An Analysis on students’ Motivation in English Reading

2. Form of Form of Research :


Research/Research - To answer the research problem in this research the
Design researcher conducted a descriptive analysis method.
According to Cohen ,et al(2000:205)’’descriptive is to
describe and to interpret what is’’
- Research Variable( Research Design) :
There is one research variabel in this research, that is
students’ reading motivation.
3. Population, - Population :
Sample, and The population for this study was second semester students
Simpling in English study program. In second semester of english
study program, the students were divided into five classes.
They were 3 morning classes and 2 afternoon classes.
- Sample :
In total the populational of this research was 201 students.
- Sampling :
In this research, the researcher used simple random
sampling.

4. Technique and - Technique :


Tools for collecting Observation
data - Tools :
Questionnaire and Interview.
5. Data analysis - The quantitative data of questionnaire was made into table
and competed by using Microsoft Excel.
- For interview data, the researcher used content analysis to
interpret the interview.

1. Title The Correlation Between Self Confidence and English
Achievement to the Eleventh Grade Students of SMKN 06
Pontianak in the Academic year of 2016/2017.

2. Form of - Predictor Variable (Independent Variabel) :
Research/Research According to Creswell (2012:341) stated ‘’A predictor
Design variabel is a variable used to make a forecast about an
outcome in Correlational Research’’. The predictor variable
in this research is students’ Self-Confidence.
- Criterion Variabel (Dependent Variabel) :
Creswell (2012:341) said ‘’the outcome being predicted in
correlation research, however is called the criterion
variabel’’. The criterion variabel of this research relates to
students English Achievement. In this study, students
English Achievement is the result that the students’ got in
their last examination because students’ result in the
examination can be indicated as students’ achievement.

3. Population, - Population :
Sample, and In this research the population is the students of SMKN 6
Simpling Pontianak at Eleventh Grade in the Academic year
2016/2017. There are six classes in the grade eleventh
where the number of student is up to 188 students.
- Sample :
To help the researcher in collecting the data the researcher
decided to use disproportionate stratified random sampling.
By using stratified random sampling the researcher took 6
(six) students from each class so there are 36 (thirty six) as
the sample in the research can represent those 188 students
as the population.
- Sampling :
In this research, the researcher used random sampling.

4. Technique and - Technique :


Tools for collecting This study used indirect communication and document
data analysis as a technique in collecting the data.
- Tools :
The tools in collecting data in this research were school’s
documents and questionnaire.
For students English achievement, the researcher used
report card. For students’s level of Self-Confidence, the
researcher adopted a questionnaire from Jones (2001)
academic self confidence scale. Academic self confidence
scale consisted 13 questions and each questions contained 5
choices. Total self confidence scores were ranged from
13-65. The higher score was indicated as the higher self-
confindence, which scores below 65 was indicated as low
self-confidence.

5. Data analysis - The researcher decided to use Pearson Product Moment to


answer the question because the data both self-confidence
and students’ English Achievement were normal after the
researcher tested the data by using Kolmogorov-Smirnov
test. The test was calculated by using SPSS.

The Effectiveness of Drama in Teaching Speaking to the Eleventh
Grade students of SMAN 1 Belitang Hilir

Form of - Independent variable :
Research/Research Fraenkel and Wallen (2009:42) that stated ‘’an independent
Design variabel is persumed to affect (at least partly cause) or
somehow influence at least one other variable. The use of
Drama as the teaching technique or the treatment was
assigned as the independent variable or experimental variabel.
- Dependent Variabel :
Creswell (2012:115) ‘’a dependent variabel is an attribute or
characteristic that is dependent on or influenced by the
independet variabel. The dependent variabel of this research is
the students’ speaking ability.
Population, Sample, - Population :
and Simpling The target population in this research was taken from the
Eleventh Grade Students of SMAN 1 Belitang Hilir in the
Academic year 2015/2016. There are four classes of the
Eleventh grade XI IPA, XI IPS 1 and XI IPS 2, XI IPS 3.
- Sample :
The researcher only took one class as the sample to represent
the whole population in the Eleventh Grade of SMAN 1
Belitang Hilir the researcher used XI IPS 3 (32 students)
- Sampling :
The researcher may use non probability sampling because of
the probability sampling was considered difficult to be
employed.

Technique and Tools - Technique :


for collecting data In this research, the measurement was held twice the first was
when the pre test has already administred it was intended to
know the initial level of students speaking production before
the treatment given. The second was after post test, which was
aimed at acknowledging the student’s ability after the
treatment given.
- Tools :
In this research, the researcher used speaking test as a tool for
collecting data which was given in the pre and post test in
order to makes the researcher easier to get the score of the
students speaking test, the researcher recorded their
performance. The video recording then analyzed and scored
based on their speaking peformance by using scoring rubric
guidance, and speaking assessment. The type of speaking test
that used in this research was role play test. Before the test
given, the researcher gave the students readability test, it was
purposed to make sure whether or not the test could be
understood by students. The readability test was in form of
questioner and given to the other class that is XI IPS 2 which
consisted of 33 students.
Data analysis - In this research, the researcher used use descriptive data
analysis. In analyzing data, the resercher used computer
software that was Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS).
There were five kinds of data analysis that employed in this
research such as Analysis of students individual score (speaking
score) in pre test and post test, mean score, the deviation
score of pre test and post test, normality of the data and effect
size.
