Why Macbeth went insane?

Macbeth is crazy because his wife Lady Macbeth pressures him to kill the king then he was

paranoid ever since. The witches told Macbeth that he would be king so he had an idea of killing

the king and Lady Macbeth pressures him to do it. Macbeth kills the king and goes crazy then

later on he thinks Banquo and his son are going to take his place as king so he kills Banquo but

his son got away. After he kills Banquo he see’s Banquo’s ghost and starts going crazy again.

Lady Macbeth is responsible for his downfall because she made Macbeth kill the king.

Lady Macbeth made him kill the king then he went crazy after that and was never the

same again. She called him a coward because he was afraid to kill the king. “Art thou afeard to

be the same in thine own act and valor as thou art in desire? Wouldn’t thou have that which thou

esteen’st the ornament of life and live and live a coward in thine own esteem, letting “I dare not”

wait upon “I would” like the poor cut I’th’ adage. (Shakespeare Act: 1 Scene: 7 Line: 39-45).

Lady Macbeth said that Macbeth is a coward because he didn’t want to kill the king. She called

the witches to help her and Macbeth with killing the king. “Come you spirits that tend on mortal

thoughts, unsex, me here, and fill me from the crown to the top full of direst cruelty. She was

summoning the witches to help kill the king. Lady Macbeth wants Macbeth to be king but to do

that he has to kill the king to take his place.

Another reason that Lady Macbeth caused Macbeth’s downfall is that she helped him plan on

killing the king. Lady Macbeth helped Macbeth by hiding the evidence and she asked the witches
for help. “And wash thus filthy witness from your hand why did you bring these daggers from

the place? They must lie there. Go carry them and smear the sleepy grooms with blood. I’ll go no

more. I am afraid to think wheat I have done. Look on’t again I dare not. Infirm of purpose! Give

me the daggers. The sleeping and the dead are but as pictures. The eve childhood that fears a

painted devil. If he do bleed, I’ll gild the faces of the grooms withful, for must seen their

guilt”.(Shakespeare Act:2 Scene:2 Lines:45-55) Lady Macbeth wanted to be queen so bad that

she helped plan the king’s murder and helped hide the evidence too.
