Brief Homage to the Twenty-One Tārās

om arya taré yé
Oṃ ārya tārāyai!

ིད་་ན་བ་མ་ན་ོང་པ་ད། །
sishyi künkhyab namkün tongpanyi
Emptiness, supreme in aspect, pervading all existence and quiescence,

ས་གམ་སངས་ས་མ་ས་འང་བ་གནས། །
dü sum sangye malü jungwé né
Is the source of all the awakened buddhas of past, present and future—

ས་རབ་ཕར་ིན་ས་་མ་ན་མོ། །
sherab parchin chöku yum chenmo
Goddess of Transcendent Wisdom (Prajñāpāramitā), great dharmakāya mother,

ེ་བན་འཕགས་མ་མ་ལ་ག་འཚལ་ལོ། །
jetsün pakma yum la chaktsal lo
Reverend and noble mother, to you I pay homage!

མ་དག་པ་་བ་ང་ཁམས་། །
namdak pema drawé shyingkham su
Within the utterly pure realm Lotus Net,

སངས་ས་མ་ཆགས་པ་ན་མངའ་བ། །
sangye ma chak pemé chen ngawa
You are the Buddha with eyes of wisdom as pure and unstained as a lotus,

ད་ཅན་མཐའ་དག་བ་བར་དགས་འིན་མཛད། །
yichen tadak dewar ukjin dzé
Who brings blissful relief to all.

ེ་བན་འཕགས་མ་མ་ལ་ག་འཚལ་ལོ། །
jetsün pakma yum la chaktsal lo
Reverend and noble mother, to you I pay homage!

གལ་་ཁམས་དང་དབང་པོའ་ེ་ག་ས། ། 1
གལ་་ཁམས་དང་དབང་པོའ་ེ་ག་ས། །
duljé kham dang wang po jé drak gi
To match the varied temperaments and capacities of those to be trained,

གང་འལ་ར་ཡང་འཆར་བ་་འལ་ི། །
gang dul chiryang charwé gyutrul gyi
You take on magical forms and appear as is most effective,

མ་རོལ་ལ་པ་་མོ་ར་དཔའ་མོ། །
namrol trulpé lhamo nyur pamo
Emanated goddess in your many guises: She who is swift and courageous;

དངས་ཅན་བསོད་ནམས་མག་ེར་གག་ཏོར་ལ། །
yangchen sönam chok ter tsuktor gyal
Sarasvatī; She who grants supreme merit; Uṣṇīṣavijayā;

་་ེ་འགས་ེད་ན་མོ་དང་། །
kurukullé jikjé chenmo dang
Kurukullā; She who causes terror;

གམ་མོ་་བ་གཞན་་ལ་བ་དང་། །
tummo mi tub shyen mi gyalwa dang
Caṇḍālī the indomitable; She who is invincible;

ཁམས་གམ་མ་ལ་ནོར་ེར་དབང་ེད་མ། །
kham sum namgyal nor ter wang jé ma
She who conquers the three realms; She who bestows wealth; She who overpowers;

བ་ས་དོན་ེད་་མོ་ད་དང་འམས། །
tashi dönjé lhamo drapung jom
Goddess who brings auspiciousness; She who vanquishes opponents;

ོ་གར་ཅན་མཛད་རབ་་འབར་བ་འོད། །
tronyer chen dzé rabshyi barwé ö
She who wears a wrathful frown; She who is perfect peace; Lady who is ablaze with light;

དཔག་ད་གནོན་མ་་་ན་མོ་དང་། །
pakmé nön ma maja chenmo dang
She of limitless subjugation; Majestic as the great peacock;

་ཕམ་ལ་མོ་་ོད་ལོ་ོན་མ། །
mipam gyalmo ritrö lo gyön ma
She who is unconquerable and victorious; Paranasabari, who dwells in mountain solitude;

འོད་ར་ཅན་མ་མས་ལ་ག་འཚལ་ལོ། ། 2
འོད་ར་ཅན་མ་མས་ལ་ག་འཚལ་ལོ། །
özer chen ma nam la chaktsal lo
And Mārīcī, ‘Rays of Light’—to you all I pay homage!

་ར་ིང་ནས་གསོལ་བ་བཏབ་པ་མས། །
detar nying né solwa tabpé tü
Through the power of these, my heartfelt prayers,

ང་བ་མས་འོངས་གང་ང་་ར་དག །
changchub sem jong gang nang lha kur dak
May I master bodhicitta, purify all appearances into deity form,

བེད་ོགས་དོན་ལ་རང་ན་ད་པ་དང་། །
kyedzok dön la rang jen tsüpa dang
And gain proficiency in the generation and perfection stages!

ཡང་དག་ལམ་ི་འགལ་ེན་ན་་ང་། །
yangdak lam gyi galkyen kün shyi shying
May all adverse circumstances on the genuine path be pacified,

མན་ེན་ོན་པ་མ་ས་ད་བན་འབ། །
tünkyen mönpa malü yishyin drub
And may all be favourable so that all our wishes are fulfilled!

་ད་ིག་པ་མ་ས་ན་དག་ནས། །
mi gé dikpa malü kün dak né
Having purified all non-virtuous, unwholesome action,

གཞན་ིས་ང་དང་ི་ལམ་ངན་པ་ལ། །
shyen gyi dang dang milam ngenpa dral
May we avoid others’ enmity and have no inauspicious dreams!

ངན་འོ་འགས་ལས་ོབ་པར་ིན་ིས་ོབས། །
ngendrö jik lé kyobpar jingyi lob
Bless us so that we may be protected from fears of the lower realms!

་མ་བད་་ནམ་ཡང་་ེ་ང་། །
mikhom gyé du namyang mi kyé shying
May we never take birth in the eight inopportune states,

ག་་ེ་བ་ན་དང་དབང་པོ་གསལ། ། 3
ག་་ེ་བ་ན་དང་དབང་པོ་གསལ། །
taktu kyewa dren dang wangpo sal
Always remember our past lives and have faculties that function clearly.

ལ་ིམས་མ་དག་ས་ལ་ད་གང་ནས། །
tsultrim namdak chö la yi shyung né
May our discipline be pure as we practise Dharma with integrity!

ན་མོངས་ལས་ི་མ་པར་ིན་པ་ལས། །
nyönmong lé kyi nampar minpa lé
Bless us so that we may be protected, guarded and shielded

བང་དང་ོབ་དང་ེད་པར་ིན་ིས་ོབས། །
sung dang kyob dang bepar jingyi lob
From the ripening of mental afflictions and past karma!

མ་ང་ད་དང་གདོན་བགས་འ་བ་དང་། །
ma rung dra dang dön gek tsewa dang
Pacify unruly enemies, harmful influences, obstacle-makers and violence,

ས་ན་འ་དང་མས་དང་ག་་ནད། །
dümin chi dang rim dang duk gi né
Untimely death, epidemics and illness brought on by poisoning!

མ་ས་་ང་དག་པར་མཛད་ནས་ང་། །
malü shyi shying dakpar dzé né kyang
And, having quelled and purified all such obstacles,

མཐར་ག་འཕགས་མ་དངས་ོད་མན་ར་ཤོག །
tartuk pakmé gong chö ngöngyur shok
May we ultimately realize Noble Tārā’s wisdom and conduct!

ས་པ་འའང་་མ་སངས་ས་ིས་བལ་ར་༧ལ་ས་པ་ལས་འེལ་ལ་ིས་ིས་པ་དའོ།། །།
