ROBBERY CRIMES AT OR NEAR CAMPUS

Since the fall semester started, a dozen robberies and attempted robberies have been
reported to Old Dominion University’s Police Department. Here’s where they occurred:

AND LOCATION BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF REPORTED INCIDENT

Sept. 4 (Saturday) ODU student, walking with friends, was assaulted and robbed of his
1 1300 block W. 40th St. wallet containing two credit cards and $40. He sustained no injuries.
Sept. 5 (Sunday) Juvenile victim (not an ODU student) was robbed at gunpoint of his
2 4700 block Elkhorn Ave. cell phone and wallet by two unknown males.
Sept. 18 (Saturday) Two non-ODU students were approached by two unknown males, one
3 1600 block W. 48th St. with a handgun asking for their beer. Assailant fired two rounds in the
air, one at the ground, then fled on foot. No injuries reported.
Sept. 21 (Tuesday) ODU student reported an unknown male with a knife demanded her
4 4400 block Hampton Blvd. money and phone. Robbed of book and handbags.
Oct. 8 (Friday) Two non-ODU students were robbed by two unknown males; one
5 1300 block W. 42nd St. brandished a revolver. One victim was robbed of his wallet.
Oct. 10 (Sunday) Non-ODU student was robbed of his wallet and cell phone by an
6 W. 40th St. and Bluestone Ave. unknown person with a revolver.
Oct. 10 (Sunday) ODU student was robbed of his wallet containing $25 by an unknown
7 W. 39th St. and Elkhorn Ave. person with a knife who jumped out from a bush.
Oct. 15 (Friday) ODU student was approached by two unknown males who punched
8 1400 block W. 40th St. victim in the face and forced him to the ground as a third assailant
took his wallet, cell phone and iPod. Victim sustained bruises and
abrasions to the facial area.
Oct. 16 (Saturday) Four ODU students, while playing football, were approached by three
9 1700 block W. 48th St. unknown males in a vehicle pointing a semiautomatic handgun and
demanding the students’ stuff. The students said they had nothing,
and the males said they would be back.
Oct. 16 (Saturday) ODU student was struck in the face and robbed of his wallet by two
10 1000 block W. 38th St. unknown males while walking to 7-Eleven.
Oct. 23 (Saturday) ODU student was approached by four unknown males; one displayed a
11 W. 43rd St. and Killam Ave. gun in his waistband and told the student to give him everything. The
victim reported being hit in the head with a gun. Norfolk police
officers were on bike patrol, and the males fled.
Oct. 24 (Sunday) Two ODU students were approached by an unknown male who
12 W. 39th Street and demanded their property while implying he was carrying a firearm. He
Bowdens Ferry Rd. fled with one of the student’s property.
