College plan Comparative essay

In economics class I had to make a college plan that is a requirement for me to walk on

stage. For this project I had to research on my top two university choices. The two top choices

that I college planned on were California state University of Los Angeles and California State

University of Northridge. I had to research the budget, pell grants, tuitions, cost per year,

university’s monthly budget, map contact info, demographics, transportation, department of chair

co-chair, clubs, and organizations. Based on this research, it helped me decide what my and 2nd

choices which were California State University of Los Angeles and California State University

of Northridge.

The tuition for CSU Northridge is $10,401 and for CSU Los Angeles is $5,742. Based on

the tuition it made me realize that CSULA might be the least expensive but, I rather attend CSU

Northridge because it has been my dream school that I have been wanting to attend. Based on

CSU Northridge Tuition and fees cost I would need a Cal grant A with an amount of $7788,

scholarships, and I qualify to take a subsidized loan for $5500 and an unsubsidized loan of $3500

if I decide to live on the campus. If I do the math I would have $2887 all for me, but only if i

were to attend CSUN, and if i do the math for CSULA I would end up with $7546.

In addition, CSU Northridge the density of students in class is at 55%. CSU Los Angeles

density in class has a percentage that is at 48%. Northridge has a big percentage of white

ethnicity in the campus with 55% and 45% being latinos. CSU Los Angeles has 34.5%.of white

ethnicity and 28.5% of Hispanic / Latino in campus. This makes it clear to me that I will not be

the only one from Hispanic/Latino background. Socializing with different cultures would help

me have the opportunity to socialize for the first time with different cultures. This will definitely

help my socializing skills improve more. The graduation rates are at 44% in the campus of CSU

Northridge and the graduation rate for CSU Los Angeles is of 34%. As you can tell CSUN has a

high graduation rate which is better for me since CSU Northridge is my dream school. In CSU

Northridge, the graphs show a lot of activity with rape being at 13%, domestic violence being at

12%, and dating violence at 20%. CSU Los Angeles Has an 86.3% of Disciplinary actions and

the rest being crimes that are lower than 10%. This is important information because it involves

my safety, and I feel safer attending CSU Northridge.

Housing in CSULA would not be a problem knowing that I live in LA. Living in LA

would make it easy for me since transportation would be less expensive and would cause me less

gas. CSU Northridge would be something that I would consider if I were to get accepted

even though doorming in CSU Northridge has a cost of $2,000. I have to choose the schedule

that would best fit me so I can be productive when I get to class. It is important to be

responsible ,and independent since I will be treated as an adult. If I were to attend CSU

Northridge I would have to drive, and take the 100 fwy, take the 405, and take an exit for

Nordhoff St. If I were to attend CSULA I would have to get the 110 fwy merge onto 101,

continue on 1-10, and take an exit for Eastern Avenue where I will have to turn left onto campus

Rd.
In conclusion I have learned that CSU Northridge tuition is expensive compared to

CSULA. I also know now that CSU Northridge distance from my house to the campus will take

about 52min, and CSULA will take about 18min. I also learned that CSU Northridge has a safer

environment. The tuition of CSUN cost is $10,401 , and for CSULA is $5741. If I were to get a

CAL grant A with an amount of $7788 and qualify for a subsidized loan for $5500 I would be

left with $2887. I also know that CSU Northridge is farther than CSULA which means
