This lesson allows the students to choose a sport and demonstrate a skill that is needed to play that sport. I will allow the students to work in groups if they are not comfortable working by themselves or recording themselves. Lesson idea implementation: For this lesson, the students will be creating an instructional video of a sports skill. The students are able to choose the sport they want to demonstrate. The students will need a smart phone or an iPad that has the app Hudl Technique on it, so they can record themselves doing the demonstration. This project would be introduced in the middle of a lesson for students to complete during class. The project should take approximately 1 or 2 days to complete. The students will be assessed based off of their participation and them emailing me their final video. The students are allowed to record someone else demonstrating the skill if they do not feel comfortable being recorded. They must do a voice over or write down what is being done in the video. To extend student learning, I would allow the students to present their demonstration video to the class. The students will be able to give each other feedback on their demonstration videos if they decided to present them. The students will be provided feedback and will be given a grade via email. Reflective Practice: I believe this lesson is a great way for students to show what they know. The idea of this lesson is for the students to teach each other different sports skills. If the students are able to teach each other, they are applying what they’ve learned thus enhancing student learning. To extend the lesson, I could allow the student to teach the game they have created their demonstration video about to their peers. The students could use a smartphone or an iPad for this lesson. Students could also share their videos, so other students can view them.
