Animal Breathing Techniques

1) Snake Hissing Breath


a) Breath in the nose, taking a long, deep inhale
b) Exhale out the mouth making a small hiiiiissssssssssing sound like a snake -
or a balloon slowly losing air
c) Repeat and go super slow, trying to exhale for 10-15 seconds or more ( 5
times)
d) Repeat another 3 times, this time change speed of your hiss as you are
releasing

2) HummingBird Breathing
a) Place one hand on your belly button and
one hand on your sternum in the middle of
your chest
b) Take a deep breath in and
huuuummmmmmm while breathing out.
Feel the vibration of the sound as you hum
and let it ground your body and calm your
mind
c) Repeat for 12 breaths in total - making the
hum as quiet or as loud as possible

3) Bear Breathing
a) Inhale through the nose, pause; exhale out of the nose - do this 5 times
b) Inhale through the nose for a count of 4, pause for a count of 2, breath out for
a count of 4, pause for a count 2.
c) Repeat 10 ten times

4) Bunny Breathing
a) Inhale through the nose really quickly 3 times times
b) One long exhale out the nose
c) Repeat 5 times.
d) Inhale through the nose really quickly 3 times and try release exhale for more
than 5 seconds
e) Repeat 5 times

5) Fish Breathing
a) Inhale a deep breath through your nose
b) Expand your cheeks and push it all out so the air
is moving around your cheeks - bloop bloop
bloop bloop bloop bloop
c) Exhale out your mouth
d) Repeat 10 times
Milkshake Breathing Technique

Hand out straws and give the students time to put water in drink
bottles or cups, only fill to half way.

1) Using the straws, give the students 2 minutes to try and


blow the biggest bubbles without spilling any water
2) Now 2 minutes to blow the smallest bubbles possible
3) Encourage students to take deep long breaths - breathe in
and exhale slow making the smallest bubbles possible.
Do this 15 times
