ideas I had for this FMP. Although the research took longer than expected I
did complete it and in appropriate detail, linking back to how it will help me
improve my work. The filming aspect to this unit began fine with all the
house scene being filmed mostly within a single day, however the rest of the
film became a problem as I needed to adjust my script half way through
practical work. This was very stressful because for a few days a was
convinced that I wasn’t going to be able to make the rest of my film, but
luckily with the help of my fellow student Charlie Ker Gray, we managed to
fix the script and get it done the next week. The way my short film was
edited started off very well as I just followed my storyboards that were quite
detailed. What stopped this flow of productivity was the fact that the music
I’d chosen to include as my opening scene didn’t suit the tone of the piece. It
was a fast paced old folk song from the 1930s that had an eerie feel to it, but
this did not pair well with my footage because no tension was built. So I had
to spend some time removing this song and finding the appropriate music to
include. Once this was found I moved on to cut together the rest of the
footage in two days then my film was almost ready to export. The last thing I
needed to was record my voice over audio that should have been done
weeks before, not on the week for submission. But once I got the dialogue
recorded in an afternoon I then attached then to my edit and spent another
day tweaking little bits and finally my short film was done. I think the most
enjoyable part of this unit was the edit because I personally find it fun to cut
together all my clips and once I’ve added my music then I get the real sense
of what I’ve made will be.
