Free Program

Join us at the Funk Heritage Center for a special program on the history of
Pine Log Mountain. Dr. Coffey, a professor of English at Reinhardt University,
first became interested in the Pine Log Mountain after hiking to the old Civilian
Conservation Corps quarry. She will discuss the 19th century Cherokee presence
in the Pine Log Mountain vicinity, as well the history of the mines in the area and
the mountain’s economic impact during President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s “New
Deal” administration.
