more research in her presentation to provide hard evidence for the

Shantel could benefit from adding a clearly stated goal using the adult

the value of this topic was high. Working at a private school, parent

nerves did show in the pacing of her speech. She went a little too fast
and rushed a few parts but as she became more comfortable, she
adjusted and went at a good speed.
Analysis and Summary of Audience Assessment
Directions: Record assessment data into Assessment Data Table (see end of document). Include copies of assessment tool with submission. Include at least one graph in your summary.

The results of my audience assessment were more positive and well-received than I anticipated. We are a small staff that has a range of teaching
experience. It can be nerve wrecking suggesting new ideas to teachers who have been working at the school for twenty plus years, however they all
responded with appreciation and excitement to my presentation. I was happy to receive a lot of pertinent questions after the presentation and have
since been asked many follow-up questions by teachers who are already willing to try some of the strategies in their classroom. As seen by the graph
for question seven, all teachers selected that they are completely likely to implement the information in their classrooms!

Other Notes and Comments

This teacher leadership project presentation went more smoothly than I anticipated. I was anxious presenting to my colleagues and I was
overwhelmed by their positive response. I appreciated how everyone responded that this presentation created curiosity as well as willingness to
start implementing some of the practices I shared. This process has encouraged me to be more forthcoming with my ideas and to create steps to
implement this behavioral plan long-term throughout our school.

mindfulness is key to classroom instruction!
Yoga is an important feature in my classroom during mindful mornings.
These materials are relevant to students of all ages to help improve concentration and reduce anxiety.
I feel it is definitely relevant for my classroom because I have active students who need an outlet for their energy.
Highly relevant since we are always looking for new ways to get our students moving throughout the day.

What's one important thing you learned from this presentation? 5 responses
Breathing techniques
How important it is for children to reflect and destress during yoga and mindfulness.
I learned that I could incorporate these techniques to my classroom to help improve concentration in certain
situation when students need to refocus maybe when energy is too high.
I learned different yoga moves for my students to use to help them calm down or change their mindset.
That using yoga in the classroom can increase the students focus and create a happier classroom environment.

Do you feel prepared to try implementing yoga and mindfulness in your

classroom? Why?5 responses
Yes, because as you mentioned, we make it our own, which means there is wrong approach.
Yes, I have had a few trainings and Shantel’s video encouraged me to continue my practice.
Yes, the 5 steps to introduce mindfulness and yoga to the classroom made it very clear on how to implement
these techniques.
I do feel more prepared after the presentation because it offered useful tips, pictures, and suggestions on ways to
incorporate this into a classroom.
Yes. We were given steps to help bring this into the classroom even when we have never done any yoga in our
life.

What else would you like to learn about these techniques? 5 responses
how to further empower the student to find their own methods of mindfulness.
I’d like more information about yoga rectifying problem behaviors in the classroom.
I would have to implement it before I get a better understanding of what I need to learn more about.
I would like to learn more ways to handle students who are maybe being a little too silly during the breathing or
who are not willing to do these techniques.
Can these techniques be used in classrooms of all ages?

If you could change one thing about this presentation, what would it be?
5 responses
I would add evidentiary support about how mindfulness has helped improve behavior in other schools and data on
how yoga improves focus/attention.
Nothing, it was highly informative.
Nothing
One thing I would add to this are more videos on yoga and meditation.
I enjoyed the whole presentation. Do not change a thing!
