College is one of the biggest pieces of my future. I have visited community colleges and
four year universities through my time at high school. I decided that my best option was
community college, so I had the opportunity to visit both Solano Community College and Napa
Valley College. I have since chosen Solano to attend in the fall. This is because I love the
Out of all the colleges I’ve visited, Solano has become my favorite. Some of these
reasons include the costs, the programs, the commute, and the convenience. Solano’s main
campus is in Fairfield, so the commute is not bad at all. Traffic may be an issue, but the back
roads prove to be very convenient during those times. Since I want to be a music major and
transfer to four year, I was able to find many resources to help me with these subjects. One thing
I like about Solano is their tag programs, which sets a certain list of units and requirements for
guaranteed entry to California Colleges such as UC Davis. This can be very useful to me. I also
love what they have to offer for music and dance. Overall, I decided that Solano was the place
for me for two years. I met with a counselor easily who helped me with class registration and etc.
She was very kind and answered all of my questions. Currently, I am now enrolled and ready to
Upon arriving to my next college, Napa Valley College, I was very pleased with the
campus. It is nice and green, though I could tell that some of the buildings were a little dated, but

I could get used to them if I went. I didn’t like the drive too much because it was a little far for
me, especially with traffic. I also found it hard to find parking because of the high volumes of
people. Upon looking into the college further and learning more about it, I discovered that they
have an amazing psych program. They even have programs for students that involve local
wineries which I found very interesting. I also loved their new Performing Arts Center. Since I
love dance, I naturally enjoyed the buildings and the rooms for the performers. Overall, Napa
Valley seems like a decent school, but it is not for me due to the commute and what I am looking
Since I have chosen Solano, I am going to major in Music for Transfer. This way, I will
have music studies under my belt while also being able to transfer to any college in California
that fits my interests. Sometime soon, I also hope to visit four year universities to see which is
best fit for me when I am ready to transfer. Who knows, I might even go out of state! In
