PLATE TECTONICS

1. What evidence do scientists have that large plates of land are moving?

-(first answer)--> I think earthquakes are evidence but I am not completely sure.
-(change of thinking)->
Scientists have tools to measure them moving

2. What are some names of the major plates of land?

-(first answer)-> I have not learned this yet.

-(change of thinking)->
North American plate, Eurasian plate, Australian plate, African plate, Caribbean plate Cocos plate,
Antarctic plate.

3. What are some ways that tectonic plates can interact with each other?

-(first answer)-> I think one way is when there are tsunamis but I am not completely sure.
I tink it is right because they are caused by earthquakes.
-(change of thinking)->
Push into each other (convergent zone), slide past each other(transform boundary), spread
apart(divergant zone), slide under (subduction zone)

4. How can land forms provide evidence for scientists to determine plate boundaries?

-(first answer)-> I think that earthquakes are evidence because the place where they
shake most and make cracks are the boundaries but I am not completely sure.

-(change of thinking)->
Land forms show where plates are interacting like a mountain range might show where a plate was
melting.

5. How does the theory of plate tectonics relate to mountains and volcanoes?
-(first answer)-> I think that when plate tectonics collide the sort of mash-up and form a
mountain or volcano but I'm not completely sure.
-(change of thinking)->

Plate tectonics tell us how volcanoes are formed and where they should occur.
