• Education in Guatemala is free and compulsory for six years.
Guatemala has a three-tier system of education primary school,
middle school, and tertiary education, depending on the technical
training.
• Most guatemalans go into a career of merchants, farmers, and
engineers.
Entertainment and Diversion
• People usually like to travel around the town for fun and
distractions, they go play soccer with their friends, participating
in food making contests.
• Teenagers usually have fun by going swimming, kayaking in near
lakes, paling sports, usually soccer, and playing with marbles in
game of marbles.
Vacations and Leisure
People in this country do lots of traveling within their country, but
mostly do most of their traveling outside the country. Mainly,
inside of Latin America, where they stay inside the continenet.

• The average for teenagers to start dating is around 15 years old
for both boys and girls.
• The average age for people in Guatemala to get married is 18
years old.

• They’re allowed to be in their parents house even if they’re single
too.
Lifestyle
• Living in guatemala is not so different for people because of the
introduction to many things, although many things are still different.
• Ways of transportation are riding buses, riding bicycles, and walking.
Most people don’t have cars.
• Schools there are usually different but have the same rules but
different hours. Children are happy to learn and make friends
• At home, people usually spend their time doing their homework and
doing chores such as cleaning and taking care of their house.

• Most of its tradition involves cuisine which relates to mayan
culture with its foods. Most of them include tamales, enchildadas,
and quesadillas.
• Guatemala national main instrument is the marimba, an
idiophone. Most of its songs are of afro-Caribbean descent which
have a distinct of popular and folk music. Cumbia is another form
of music that is popular with the culture.
• Another tradition is their colored yarn textiles that are
handmade.
• The religion is mixed with Roman Cathoilism and Maya religion
which turns into a syncretic religion.
• Also, they have a pilgrimage on January 15.

Many things between us and Guatemala are similar:
• Similar careers such as merchants, farmers, and engineers
• Similar forms of entertainment and diversions
• Similar forms of lifestyles such as how they live life
Many things between us and Guatemala are different:
• Traditions such as music, textiles, foods ,and religion.
• Person relationships because of the different ages parents here in the U.S. let their
teenagered children date.
• Different forms of vacations because People in the U.S. usually travel in the country
while people in Guatemala travel outside of their country and spend long periods of
time.
