BASIC INFORMATION:

The title of this book is “The evil painting” and it was written by Julie Hart. This book is a thriller.

The story takes place in Philip and Claire’s house. Whe don’t know the time of the story but I think

that it is in the present.

CHARACTERS

The major characters are Philip and Claire. They are brother and sister. Philip is older tan Claire. He is

tall and Slim. He has got Brown hair and he wears a green sweater and jeans. He is a good and brave

boy.

Claire is a young girl. She usually wears a pink sweatshirt and jeans. He wears a ponytail and she is

very intelligent and brave.

Other important “stuff”are Philip and Claire’s parents. Philip and Claire’s mother bought the picture.

She changes when she buys the picture. She talks to with the picture. Her face changes, her eyes are

red. She doesn’t listen to her children. She is hipnotized for the man of the picture. She is free when

they throw the picture to the river.

Philip and Claire’s father is a kind man. He doesn’t know anything about the picture. He thinks his

family is crazy.

William Kent is the man of the picture. He was a famous hypnotist but he was a killer too. He killed

two people. He hypnotized Claire and Philip’s mother. He drowned in the river. Peter and Claire throw

the picture in the river. William drowns again.

PLOT:

The story starts when Claire and Philip’s mother bought a picture. It’s the picture of an ugly man. He

has got an ugly smile. Philip and Claire doesn’t like the picture. Their mother changes when the

picture is on the wall. She talks with the picture. She is angry when they say the picture is horrible.

Their father thinks his wife is ill.

One night Philip sees his mother. She is talking with the picture. Philips wakes up his sister. They

want to destroy the picture. They throw the picture to the rubbish. Their mother is very angry. But

when the picture is destroyed their mother is normal again. But when they come into the house the

picture is on the wall again. They are very frightened.

The next morning they read in the newspaper someone stole the picture from gallery.They cut the

picture with a knife and throw it to the rubbish bin. They go to school but when they come home the

picture is in their house again. They hide the picture and go to the library. They know that the man of

the picture was a dangerous man. He was a hypnotist and he killed people. He drowned in the river.

They decide to throw the picture to the river. Their mother is normal again. The following morning

their dad gives their mother a new picture. A beautiful picture, They are happy again.

MY OPINION:

In my opinión this is a strange story. I like it because it is about a mistery. The bad character is a

picture and this is very strange. The children are very brave but they are normal children. They want to

help their mother.

Teenagers like this story because it is an adventure. It has got a bad character and two heroes. The

heroes are two children. They can imagine they are the children.
