Unit injector removed
Illustrations may differ slightly from the actual vehicle being serviced. However, key
components addressed in this information are represented as accurately as possible.
All threaded fasteners that do not have a tightening torque specification in the information are
tightened to a standard torque. Standard torques are available in the following specification.➠

WARNING
Risk of burn injuries.
The coolant may be hot.
▶ Allow the engine to cool before starting work. Do not remove the cover for the coolant tank
before the coolant has had time to cool down.
▶ Remove the coolant tank cap carefully. Use the appropriate protective equipment.
1 Remove the expansion tank cap.

2 Connect the drain hose.
Required material
DRAIN_HOSE 9996049
3 Drain the coolant.

▶ Ensure conditions of maximum cleanliness when carrying out any work on the fuel system.
4 Clean around the sleeve thoroughly.
5 Install the sealing rings (A).

SEALING_RING 9998250 2 pcs

6 Lubricate the threads.
7 Install the tool (A).
Required material
SLEEVE 88800460
8 Press down the puller to the bottom of the sleeve.
9 Torque tighten the nut (1).
Tightening torque
Sleeve, lock nut 50 Nm

10 Install the tool (A).
Required material
PULLER 88800387
11 Check the distance (A).

A ≈ 15 mm
12 Turn the nut so that the sleeve releases from the cylinder head.
Note
Only tighten the nut using a hand tool.

13 Remove the tool (A) and the sleeve.

15 Clean the cylinder head with the brush (C).

20 Rotate the crankshaft so that the piston in the cylinder in question is not at TDC (Top Dead
Centre).

21 Check the drive screw.

Check dimension, drive screw 7.9 ±0.03 mm
Length, drive screw, assembly tool 80 mm
22 Apply grease to the threads.

23 Install the O-ring.
Note
Use a new part.
24 Lubricate the O-ring.

25 Install the sleeve on the tool (A).
Required material
TAPPET 88800196
26 Lubricate the drive screw (B).
27 Install the drive screw until it bottoms in the tool.
28 Loosen the drive screw half a turn.
29 Apply graphite paste on the drive screw.

30 Install the tool (A) with sleeve.
31 Install the injector yoke.
32 Torque tighten the screw.
Tightening torque
Yoke, assembly tool 80 Nm

33 Counterhold the tool (A).
34 Tighten the nut (B )to draw the drive screw up through the sleeve.
Note
The nut (B )must only be tightened with a hand tool.

35 Remove the yoke.
36 Remove the tools.
37 Remove the sealing rings (A).
38 Install the sealing plug (A).

1 Remove the expansion tank cap.

2 Connect the drain hose.

3 Drain the coolant.

4 Clean around the sleeve thoroughly.

5 Install the sealing rings (A).

6 Lubricate the threads.

7 Install the tool (A).

8 Press down the puller to the bottom of the sleeve.

9 Torque tighten the nut (1).

Sleeve, lock nut 50 Nm

10 Install the tool (A).

11 Check the distance (A).

13 Remove the tool (A) and the sleeve.

14 Remove the sleeve from the tool.

15 Clean the cylinder head with the brush (C).

18 Remove the plug.

19 Install the cranking adapter (A).

21 Check the drive screw.

Check dimension, drive screw 7.9 ±0.03 mm

Length, drive screw, assembly tool 80 mm

22 Apply grease to the threads.

23 Install the O-ring.

24 Lubricate the O-ring.

25 Install the sleeve on the tool (A).

26 Lubricate the drive screw (B).

27 Install the drive screw until it bottoms in the tool.

28 Loosen the drive screw half a turn.

29 Apply graphite paste on the drive screw.

30 Install the tool (A) with sleeve.

31 Install the injector yoke.

32 Torque tighten the screw.

Yoke, assembly tool 80 Nm

33 Counterhold the tool (A).

35 Remove the yoke.

36 Remove the tools.

37 Remove the sealing rings (A).

38 Install the sealing plug (A).

SEALING PLUG 9998251

39 Remove the cranking adapter (A).

40 Install the plug.

41 Fill the coolant up to the (MAX) mark.
