Acknowledgement

With profound respect, I take the opportunity to convey my thanks to the

management of Cadd Solutions for providing me the opportunity to do my
training at their Institute.

I am extremely thankful to all the technical staff of Cadd Solutions for their
Co-operation and guidance who have helped me a lot during the course of
my training.

I have learnt a lot while working with them and I will always be indebted to
them for this. I would like to give my special thanks to Mr. Roman Singh.
He acted as a constant source of motivation and inspiration to me
throughout the period of industrial training.
Cartesian Coordinate System

AutoCAD provides the user with an infinite two dimensional area to work
with. Any entities place on the working two dimensional plane can be
defined relative to the Cartesian coordinate system. The Cartesian
coordinate system divides a two dimensional plane with two perpendicular
axis. The X axis runs horizontal across the bottom of the screen. The Y
axis runs vertically along the left side of the screen. These two axis
intersect at the bottom left corner of the screen. Each of these axis is
further divided into segments. Each segment is given a value. The X axis
segments increase in value to the right. The positive X values are to the
right of the intersection of the two axis. The negative X values are to the
left. The positive Y values are above the intersection and increase up. The
negative Y values are below.

Absolute coordinates
1. Type x,y coordinate when AutoCAD asks for a point.
From point: 1,1
To point: 2,1
To point: 2,2
To point: 1,2
To point: 1,1

Relative Coordinates
1. Type @deltax,deltay when AutoCAD asks for a point.
From point pick point
To point: @1,0
To point: @0,1
To point: @-1,0
To point: @0,-1
Polar Coordinates
1. Type @distance<angle when AutoCAD asks for a point.
From point: pick point
To point:@1<0
To point:@1<90
To point:@1<180
To point:@1<270

Draw Toolbar

This toolbar consists of all the drawing commands. The commands, which we will
go through, one by one.

Line

Line command is used for drawing lines. This command can be selected by taking
the cursor on the draw toolbar and selecting line. It can be also selected by
shortcut by typing “L” and pressing enter.
 Line can be made freely by specifying 1st point and specifying end point manually
by dragging the cursor and then clicking it.
 Line can also be created by specifying 1st point and entering the length of the line
and specifying the direction manually in polar or ortho as given on the bottom
toolbar at bottom of the screen.
 Inclined linecanbe drawn when polar is “ON” by specifying 1st point and then
specifying length and angle of inclination by “@length<angle,eg. @100<60”

Construction line

Construction line is a line which is used as a reference line. It is constructed by

selecting the construction line on draw toolbar.
Polyline

This command is used for creating figures by specifying the points manually to
give the direction to the polyline and ending it by pressing esc button.

Polygon

This command is used for creating polygon, hexagon or closed figurewith any
number of vertexes. There are two types of hexagon inscribed and circumscribed
to circle. The polygon command is selected from the draw toolbar and also by “P”
enter. Then, the number of sides are entered, followed by selecting whether the
polygon is inscribed or circumscribed and finally the radius is entered.
Rectangle

This command is used for creating rectangle. This command is selected by “rec”
enter.

 Rectangle is formed by specifying 1st point and then entering the area.
 It is also formed by specifying 1st point and then giving the dimensions.
 Inclined rectangle is formed by specifying 1st point and then giving
therotation and then the dimensions.

Arc

This command is used to form the arc. It is selected by “a”enter.

 Arc is formed by specifying 1st point followed by end point and finally giving the
radius.
 It is formed by specifying 1st point followed by center and then giving the end
point or giving the chord length.
 It is formed by specifying center point followed by start point and then giving the
end point or giving the chord length.

Circle

Circle is selected by “c” enter.

 Specifying center point and giving the radius is one way of creating circle.
 Second way is again by giving center point and giving the diameter.
 3P is the type of circle formed by specifying three points for creating a circle.
 2P circle is formed by giving two points.
 Ttr (tangent tangent radius) circle is formed by consecutively giving two tangent
points and the radius.
 Ttt (tangent tangenttangent) circle is formed by giving all three tangents.
Spline

It creates a smooth curve that passes through or near the specified points. Spline
creates non uniform rational B-splines (NURBS). Splines are either defined by fit
points or by control vertices. By default, fit points coincide with splines, while
control vertices define a control frame. Control frames provide a convenient
method to shape the spline. Each method has its advantage.

Ellipse

Ellipse is formed by two methods after selecting the ellipse command from the
draw toolbar.

 Center method is deployed by specifying the center point followed by specifying

both radii.
 Axis method is executed by specifying both ends of axis and then giving the
remaining radius.

Ellipse arc

This command is used for creating elliptical arc by defining the center point, both
radii and then the chord ends.

Hatch & Gradient

Hatch fills the enclosed selected area with hatch pattern whereas gradient fill the
enclosed selected area with gradient fill.

Mtext& Tables

Mtext is used for typing the multiline text and the table command is used for
making tables to add information.

Dimension Toolbar
Dimensional toolbar is the toolbar which consists of dimensional commands to
show the dimensions of the drawing.

Linear dimension

It makes the linear dimensions for the horizontal, vertical or rotated dimensional
line.
Aligned

The dimensional line is created aligned to the origin points of the extension line.

Arc length

This is applied for giving the measurement of arc length.

Ordinate

This command is used for measuring the horizontal or vertical distance from the
originpoint.
Radius

This command is used for dimensioning the selected circle or an arc.

Jogged

This Command creates the jogged dimension

Angular

This is used for creating angular dimension.

Baseline

This command is used for default spacing between baseline set from the
dimension style manager.

Modify Bar
Copy
This Command is used to make a copy of specified obeject at a desired distance
without going into making the entire object again from the beginning.

Mirror

This Command is used to make a mirror image of the specified object.

Offset
This Command is used to make concentric circles, parallel lines and parallel
curves.

Rectangular Array

This command distributes object copies into any combination of rows, columns
and levels.

Move
It is used to move the object to a specified distance.

Trim

This command is used to trim edges of an object to meet the edges of other
object.

Extend
It extends the object to meet the edges of other object.

Chamfer

This command bevels the edges of the object.

Fillet

This command is used to round and fillet the edges of object.

Explode

This command is used to break the compound object into its component objects.

Status Bar
The Status Bar is the area below the command line that shows messages as well
as coordinates, modes, and the current time.
To activate SNAP, GRID, ORTHO, OSNAP, DYN and TILE, you must double click on
the mode of change.

8.5. Loading Toolbars

1. Choose View, Toolbar...
or
2. Type TOOLBAR at the command prompt
Command: TOOLBAR
3. Choose the desired toolbar to load.

Conclusion
I would like to conclude at the end of this report by writing this that the
experience gained while working on both the softwares was
tremendous. My tutor was very helping and generous as he helped me
throughout the training program and cleared my doubts if I had any.
Autocad and Staad.pro have taught me a lot. Apart from my academics
this have been of great interest where I learned a lot. All the commands
taught to me are of great importance. Since the amateur point of
starting the softwares till the end have brought an overwhelming
change in my knowledge as it have opened the horizons of vast
industrial research and development knowledge.

Reference
All the material used in making this project report comes from several
spheres and also from the knowledge that I gained while the training
program. Hints have been taken from the google and Wikipedia. Most
of the figures have been created by me. I also took the help of my
trainers to solve my doubts.
