5 year plan

Within these next five years I have a lot planned for myself. I know I am a highly capable

person with many talents. I know the first two years of my life post-graduation is on a solid path.

I am still planning and trying to arrange everything in my head for the three years after I have

finished my general education. I am extremely excited for what the future holds. Of course there

are unexpected occurrences that happen within a person's life and I’m fully prepared for the

bumps in the road these next five years of my life. I know it won’t be easy but I also wouldn’t be

Alyssa if I took the easy way out of things.

I plan on continuing my education and furthering my career to become a registered nurse.

I’m staying local for the first two years of college. There are a few reasons to why I chose to stay

in Merced. One reason is being that it’s overall cheaper to go to the junior college and get the

same education as going to a CSU or a UC. Secondly, I am currently working at In-N-Out

Burger, which is a great stable job I plan on keeping until out of college. I plan on working a lot

these next two years and saving up my money for when I do move out and further my education

elsewhere. Third and last reason as to why I’m staying in Merced for the next two years is

because my mom and I have agreed that it was safer and stabiler to stay home. I agree with this

compromise because moving to a new city at 18 which is completely foreign to myself could’ve

been harder on myself than rewarding. My mother and I agreed that it would be easier for my

parents to help me get my money saved up and prepare me for the real world. I’m grateful that

they are willing to help me financially with college and continue to push me to have a better

future for myself than they did.

Roughly around two years is when I would be done with my general education and my

prerequisites to get into the college of my choice. My plan after getting my general done is to

transfer to CSU Sacramento. I’m still trying to figure out all the details about moving but I would

get an apartment in Sacramento and would preminatly be living there. In-N-Out Burger is any

amazing company to be working for. My job pays great and I would be able to transfer to a

Sacramento store. This is why I plan on staying with In-N-Out until I graduate college or find a

better job. After transferring to CSU Sacramento I plan on applying to the RN program and

working on getting my RN license for the following two years of college. I plan on getting my

Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree. Having a BSN license opens a lot more opportunities

rather than having an Associates degree. I chose to continue my schooling in Sacramento

because registered nurses working in Northern California get the highest pay wages throughout

the country. If my life goes as planned then I would be a working registered nurse by the age of

25 and be set for the rest of my life.

I believe I have a great plan and future. I think that staying in Merced would be very

beneficial to myself because I can get on my feet slowly. I would have responsibility put on me

slowly rather than moving out and having to pay all my expenses on my own with having hardly

any money saved up. It would be coming up on a year working at In-N-Out Burger in June but

saving up money for 3 years rather than 1 would be overall help me in the long run. These next

couple years I’m strictly focusing on my education, myself, and work. I have made a promise to

myself to not allow anything come into my life that will have any possibility of making me stay

in Merced. I have so much potential as a person and I wouldn’t want to waste it by staying in

Merced.
