Semester Project: RC Buggy

The attached pictures show the final results of my group’s semester project—our remote-
controlled buggy. We were tasked with creating a functional RC car using a set of baseline snap-fit parts,
as well as custom parts that we made ourselves. As shown above, many of the starting designs were
utilized and the parts were created via FDM 3-D Printing. My group designed a lightweight aluminum
center piece that was meant to be the mounting place for the circuit board. However, due to machining
issues, we resorted to 3-D printing of the part. We also redesigned the arm pieces that connect the
motors to the wheels. Both of these parts were printed in blue filament on a group member’s personal
printer, and they served as a suitable stand-in for machined, aluminum parts. This project tested the
group’s manufacturing abilities and taught a number of useful techniques along the way.
