Description of artifact/assignment:
My academic artifact is my totalitarian essay. This is an essay that compares ​Fahrenheit 451​ by
Ray Bradbury and Hitler's Third Reich society.

Why did you choose this as one of your artifacts/assignments?

I chose this artifact because I worked hard on this assignment and got a better grade than I
expected to. What I found significant about this essay is that not only did I get a better grade than
i expected but Ms. Conner and Mr. Dobbins also made it a learning on how to write a good essay
and I learned how to do more show evidence than tell evidence.

What academic skills did you use that are specific to this artifact/assignment?
Ability to follow directions and responsibility are two academic skills I used in order to complete
this paper. I had to follow directions on the layout and evidence in order to get the highest score
on the rubric. This essay was an independent assignment and I had to personally make sure I was
responsible to finish each section on the essay to keep an organized schedule before it was due.

What general academic skills did you use (skills that would be used in any academic class)?
The general academic skills I’ve used is critical thinking and engaging thinking for my paper. I
also use those skills daily in my normal classes.

Did you see growth in your targeted soft skills through the course of working on this
Artifact/Assignment? Explain.
Portfolio 2018-19

Yes i did see growth because even though we had help from my teachers it was my responsibility
to self- manage my time and make sure I wasn’t procrastinating.

Provide an example of how these academic and/or soft skills are used in a career in which you
are interested.
All of the careers and I think every career involves responcibilty, and each of my career choices
are very involved and need organiztion. To be organized you have to especially manage yourself
with time.
