Who are we talking about?
We have decided to talk about a creature whose name is
Siren. It is said that Siren is located on the island of
Anthemoessa.

What are Siren’s?
Based on what story you hear it depends on how they
are portrayed. It is said that these “bird women” can
stop any ship that approaches their coast. They bewitch
sailors with songs that make them forget everything
else. They forget the rocky ocean, the sails and tackle,
the families waiting for them at home and even life
itself.
Where are they originated?
1. The Sirens originated in Greece in 500 B.C.
2. Greece is located in Southern Europe, bordering the
Ionian Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.

How do they look?
There are different ways people describe Sirens. Some
describe them as beautiful women with fish tails and
the modern creepy version of a mermaid. She has long
hair and both her hair and tail are darkly colored.

However some also say that instead of having a fish tail
they have bird features including feathered wings,
clawed feet, and sometimes sparrowed tails. They were
not beautiful but they did have beautiful feathers.
Being Evil?
Some say they were not evil by
nature.Stories described the
temptresses physically attacking
humans, which leaves the
possibility that their songs were
not destined to kill
Cursed By who?
Before the Sirens took up their deadly
singing career,it is said that they had a lot
of setbacks in life. They were cursed by
both Demeter and Muses and exiled to a
small island where they were forced to
live alone. It’s possible that they sang to
avenge the wrongs against them. Abused
by life they decided to become monsters
and destroy the lives of others.
Who is Demeter and Muses?
Demeter is the goddess of harvest
and presides over grains and the
fertility of earth. She is also referred
to as “The Cycle Of Life and Death”

Muses are the “arts and sciences and

offered inspiration in those
subjects”.
More about their voices?
The Siren’s have high and clear
singing voices. Their voices were so
full of emotion that it drove men
insane. They sometimes also included
instruments to go along with their
voices. They would use lyres,
flutes,and pipes. It is also claimed that
they have prophetic abilities which
lent depth to the lyrics of their songs.
Daughters of who?
It is stated that traditionally the Siren’s were daughters
of the river god Achelous and Muse.

So we have decided to draw a
mermaid because we wanted
to make it go with our
creature. So since the Siren’s
are labeled as birds or
mermaids i just decided to
draw a mermaid.

So what I did is a compare and
contrast graph of a selkie and a siren
because they are very different
creatures so I wanted to see if I could
find anything similar about them.
Why did we decide to research
the Sirens?
We have decided research the Sirens because we
thought it is fascinating by the way they sing. It is
fascinating how they can sing and make someone on
board forget everything.
Conclusion & Is it a Myth?
In conclusion we believe that Sirens are fascinating. It is
crazy how something so cool can be the death of many
on board. As of today we believe that Siren’s are still
out there.
