FINAL Lesson Plan Template 2019

One class period of time

Name Vanessa Ramirez

Grade Level Kindergarten

Subject Area English/Language Arts

Introduction: Today students will learn the letters P and B. Students will learn the letter sounds
and words that start with both letters. Students will view the Powtoon I created
showing them what P and B look like and their sounds, along with some words that
begin with each letter. [NEPF 1, Learning Purpose and Connection]

Daily Reviews: Students will go over the letters that we have learned in the past using Lively
Letters. With each letter we will listen to its song. I will then tell the story that goes
along with it. After, I will call on students to give me a word that begins with each
letter.

Daily Objective: Students will be able to identify the letters P and B.

Students will be able to know the letter sound and name of P and B when asked.

Concept and Skill As a class we will make a chart with two columns. One side for the letter P and the
Development and other for the letter B. Students will make their own column on a piece of paper. I will
Application: then have students give me words that begin with both those letters. Then, I will
have each students pick one from each column. Once all the students have made
their choice I will have them draw me a picture of those words that they chose.
Once they are done with that I will then use Thinglink to bring their pictures to life.
[NEPF 3, Engagement]

Guided Practice Students will go fishing for the letters P and B. In the front of the class there will be
(Teacher led): a bin filled with magnetic fish that have letters on them and a chart with a P side
and a B side.. With the fishing pole, each student will come up and try to fish out a
letter P or a letter B. After they have fished the letter out they will place it on the
correct side of the chart.

Group Practice (Whole Students will get into groups of 4. At each table there will be bins on the table filled
class or small groups): with sand and different objects. Students will work together to find all the objects
that start with the letters P and B in the sand. They will then sort them into a P
group and a B group. First group to finish, correctly, gets a prize.

Independent Practice Students will work on two worksheets called Mystery Letter Pictures one for each
(Alone): letter. Students will color the letter for each picture and see what hidden picture
they created.
Homework Students will work on identifying each letter and their letter sound by reviewing the
Assignments: column they made in class today.

Closure: I will review what we learned today with a quiz through Kahoot. [NEPF 5,
Assessment Integrated into Instruction] This quiz will have the pictures of each
letter, upper and lowercase, and objects beginning with each letter. Students will
have to tell me what letter it begins with and the sound of that letter.
