Reviews: have labeled a stage with each location (Up-stage and downstage, left,
right, center, and center stage). Use the Elmo to show the students what
their stage should look like. The sheet with this info is in the top right
door of my desk in a folder for Period 3 that says Stage Direction Key.
There are three different colored spots on the paper as well, address
these spots as set pieces and mention that the students’ group stage
design project is due in two weeks and now needs to include a side, over
head and audience view of the mandatory three set pieces to be
included.

Guided In a group, lead the class through an on feet exercise called Yes And. If
Practice you refer to my book, 101 Theatre Games, y ou may find a more in
(Teacher depth description of this activity. For this activity, students will be in a
led): circle, and you will start with an expositional sentence such as “Once
Upon a time there lived a beautiful princess who loved to smell
flowers”, then the next student would start by saying “Yes And..”,
followed by an addition or continuation of what was said before them.
This will go all around the circle at most twice. The importance of this
activity is so students understand the importance of pushing a scene
forward by saying yes and how saying no will do the opposite. Never
say no is a vital rule of Improv.
Group Next, Students will split up into groups of 5 and play Slide Show, which
Practice is also in the book. This game requires one player to lead their audience
(Whole class through a slideshow from a vacation or experience, and the other 4
or small players will have to make a random image with their bodies that the
groups): presenter must justify. Each group will only do ONE Image. Emphasize
that the presented must justify this picture as if it’s one they would
frame in their house.
This activity forces players to think on their feet, incorporate their
vocals and bodies, and tell a story.
Homework For Homework, the students are to write 100 word essay on the rules of
