Once upon a time, there lived a couple of husband and wife.

They had a very beautiful daughter, her

name is Bawang Putih.

One day, out of sickness, Mama White, Bawang Putih’s mother, was dead. Then, Bawang Putih was also
left by his Dad, Papa White, because he had to work in a far place. Papa White also left this world
because of an accident, so Bawang Putih was alone.

But before Papa White was deaD, he remarried the neighbor, Mama Red. She also had a daughter name
Bawang Merah. Mama Red has an awful personality, so she and Bawang Merah acted recklessly towards
Bawang Putih. Mama Red was jealous of the White household, and Bawang Merah was envy because
Bawang Putih was more beautiful than her. One day on their home…

Mama Red : Putih! You must wash clothes , plate, and all kind of homework!

Bawang Merah : Wash my clothes until clean like new!

Bawang Putih : Y..yes,,mom..

MR and BM: Quickly!

Everyday, Bawang Putih was being abused by Mama Red and Bawang Merah. She felt so sad because
she had to do all the homework by herself.

Mama Red : Putih! We are hungry already. Go to the market and cook something for us, fast!

Bawang Putih: Alright, mom

Then, Bawang Putih went to the market. While shopping for foods, she heard an announcement. It was
an announcement for those who can cure Queen’s disease; they would be able to live in the palace, with
all the glory and luxury. Bawang Putih then decided to also buy some ingredients to make a medication
she knew how to do it from her late mother. On the next day, she did the medication and got ready to
go to the Queen’s residence. But..

Mama Red: where do you think you’re going? Don’t I say you have to do all the work?

Bawang Merah: she looks like she is going to walk away from this house

Mama Red: I warn you, you ungrateful child. If you go away, I’ll not let you that easy.

Bawang Putih: yes, mom. I understand. I just want to go to market. I have already washed the clothes

her medication, the Queen felt better. All the Palace residents were so happy because of Bawang Putih.
She was granted the permission to live in the palace. Unfortunately, she was caught by mama Red as she
packed her things

Mama Red: what are you doing? Why are you bringing many things?

Bawang Putih: yes, I am packing my things mom

Mama red: why do you pack your things?

Bawang Putih: I am going to live in the Palace. I helped the Queen cure her disease, and I am allowed to
enter the palace and live there as the prize

Mama Red: what a nonsense is that!

Bawang Merah: yeah! That’s ridiculous! Who do you think you are

Bawang Putih: please, mom. I deserve it

Mama Red: you are really an ungrateful child! After what I have been giving to you?!!!

Bawang Merah just stayed silent there, watching her step sister getting scolded by their mom. But then,
she said something to Mama Red

Bawang Merah: Mom, if she really wants to go to the palace, let her be…

Mama Red: why would I do that?

Bawang Merah: then she’ll realize that her decision is wrong..

Bawang Putih: no, I will not feel that kind of thing.

Bawang Putih felt complicated but she thought it was only way to live in the palace

a handsome and fine man. He wanted to welcome person who cured his mom’s disease.

Prince: Hello, welcome to our Palace. I really want to thank you again for your help.
Bawang Putih: There’s nothing we had done, my Prince.

Prince: please don’t say it like that, you know you did a big change to my family.

The Prince was so mesmerized by Bawang Putih’s beauty. He really thought that this woman was really a
kind, family-oriented, and gorgeous woman. But then he also saw a woman beside her, making him
wonder

Prince: if I may ask, who is this woman with you?

Bawang Putih: eu..she is…

Bawang Merah: [whispering] say to him that I am the medicine maker. If not, you’ll regret it

Bawang Putih felt scared and decided to lie. Bawang Merah really had her way to make her so little, just

Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih lived on the separates rooms, and starting to live in the Palace. As
days went by, their difference in character was shown. Bawang Putih is polite, full of smile to all people,
even to the servant. She also liked to cook, even had one chance to give her cooking to the Queen and
Prince. They ate Bawang Putih’s cooking and like it because it was so delicious. Meanwhile Bawang
Merah started to ask people around her to do things for her, acting like she was the princess.

One day, her act was caught by the prince.

Prince: Hello Bawang Merah. You seemed mad. What’s happening?

Bawang Merah: Your majesty. I just want to eat something because I was hungry but I don’t like the
food

Prince: but, you can make food by yourself, right? You also made the medicine that cure my mother

Bawang Merah was mad because the Prince was asking her questions like he was being suspicious. And
out of anger she confessed that she’s not the one making the medicine.

Bawang Merah: ckckck, who has the time to make something like that?! It was also difficult to feed my
own self!

Prince: what…?
Bawang Merah: eu..i mean..euu…

Prince: so you lied to me? You are not the one who made it?

Bawang Merah: I’m so sorry, Prince! I lied to you! Please, don’t be mad and punish me! Please T_T

Prince: and who exactly the one making the Queen’s medicine?

Bawang Merah : my stepsister, Bawang Putih…

Prince: I see. Well, there’s no way I keep allowing you to stay here. You lied to me and you behave so

of the palace, meanwhile Mama Red and Bawang Merah lived in poverty because of their greediness.
