CHED Scholarship 2019: Requirements and Qualifications

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is now accepting applications for the
Student Financial Assistance Programs (StuFAPs) for incoming freshmen and college
level students for Academic Year 2019-2020.

The StuFAPs aims to provide financial assistance to students who are enrolled in an
authorized public or private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). This helps to ensure that
education shall be accessible to all especially to underprivileged and deserving
students. Qualified beneficiaries shall enroll or must be currently enrolled in any CHED
priority courses as per CMO No. 1 s. 2104 and shall receive financial assistance
amounting to Php 6,000 to Php 15,000 per semester whichever program an applicant
qualifies.

Scholarship Qualifications

Applicants must meet all the qualifications below to qualify for the CHED scholarship
program.

 The applicant must be an incoming freshman or a college-level student;


 He or she must be a Filipino citizen;
 He or she must be any of the following:
 Senior High School graduate and/or candidate for graduation;
 Passer of Senior High School ALS/PEPT, and
 With earned units in college.
 The family gross income must not exceed three hundred thousand pesos (Php
300,000.00)*
 Must avail of only one CHED scholarship or financial assistance program; and
 Must not be a graduate of any degree program.
* In highly exceptional cases where income exceeds PhP300,000.00, the CHEDRO
StuFAPs Committee shall determine the merits of the application.
What are the requirements?

Here are the documents you need to submit when applying for the CHED’s student
financial assistance program. Please bring the original documents for verification
purposes.

GWA Requirements

Full Scholarship
The full merit scholarship is available for deserving high school and graduating high
school students. High School graduates must have a GWA of at least 90% or its
equivalent. Graduating high school students must have at least 90% GWA in 3rd year
and in the first 3 grading periods of the fourth year.

Partial Scholarship
The partial is given for high school and graduating high school students alike. High
School graduates must have a GWA of at least 85% or its equivalent. Graduating high
school students must have at least 85% GWA in 3rd year and in the first 3 grading
periods of the fourth year.

Private Education Student Financial Assistance


This program is also given for high school and graduating high school students. High
School graduates must have a GWA of at least 85% or its equivalent. Graduating high
school students must have at least 85% GWA in 3rd year and in the first 3 grading
periods of the fourth year.

Grant-in-Aid

The Tulong Dunong under the Grant-in-Aid program is for high school graduates,
graduating high school students, students with earned units in college, students who
passed the Alternative Learning System (ALS) and Philippine Educational Placement
Test (PEPT). High School graduates must have a GWA of at least a passing grade.
Graduating high school students must have at least a passing grade in 3rd year and in
the first 3 grading periods of the fourth year. Those who already earned units in college
must also have a passing grade for the last two semesters.

Academic Requirements
 Senior High School Graduate
 Photocopy of grades in Grade 12 and original copy of the Certificate of
General Weighted Average (GWA) from the principal.
 Candidate for Graduation in Senior High School
 Photocopy of grades in Grade 12 (1st semester) and original copy of the
Certificate of General Weighted Average (GWA) from the principal.
 Photocopy of grades in grade 11 (1st and 2nd semesters) and original copy
of the Certificate of General Weighted Average (GWA) from the principal.
 Accreditation and Equivalency Test Passer (ALS)
 Photocopy of Alternative Learning System (ALS) Accreditation and
Equivalency Test Certificate/Certificate of Rating (Secondary Level) from the
Department of Education (DepEd);
 Photocopy of Diploma
 Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT) Passer
 Photocopy of Certificate of Rating from DepEd;
 Photocopy of Diploma
 With Earned Units in College
 Photocopy of grades in all subjects in completed semesters and Certification
of Total General Weighted Average (GWA) from the registrar.
Other Documentary Requirements
1. Proof of Income (any of the following)

 For children of OFWs and seafarers, a photocopy of any of the following:


 The latest copy of the contract;
 Proof of income
 For children of non-OFWs, a photocopy of any of the following:
 Photocopy of the latest Income Tax Return of parents or guardian;
 Certificate of Tax Exemption from the Bureau of Internal Revenue
 Case study from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)
 Affidavit of No Income
 Certificate of Indigency from Barangay
2. Certificate of Good Moral Character from the last school attended issued by the
guidance counselor or principal.

3. Additional Requirements for Applicants belonging to the following:

 Rebel Returnees/Integrees
 Authenticated certificate from the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the
Peace Process (OPAPP)
 Member of Indigenous and Ethnic Peoples
 Certificate of Membership from either the Office of Muslim Affairs or the
National Commission on Indigenous Peoples
 Solo Parent
 Affidavit duly executed by the applicant that he or she is a solo parent or a
child of a solo parent with an attached certification from the DSWD worker in
the area
 Certificate of Good Moral Character of the parent from the Barangay
Chairman of the place of domicile
 Certificate of Good Health of the applicant
 Birth Certificate of the applicant (photocopy)
 ID of the solo parent (photocopy)
 Differently-Abled Persons (PWD)
 Certification from the DSWD
 Senior Citizens
 Photocopy of the senior citizen’s ID
