ICE: Rock Solid or Cracked To The Core?

Government corporation ICE may be focusing too much on the number of arrests rather
than dangerous criminals.

HERRIMAN--February 13th, 2019, well known rapper 21 Savage was taken into
custody by ICE, and opened the thought that they are handling things all wrong by
focusing most on number of arrests than convicted criminals.

Rumor had it that he was here illegally from the UK. There was no explanation or
reasoning given to him at the time of his arrest. That could also be the case with other
people who are questioned.

Over the years, convicted criminals haven’t had an incline in arrest rates. Other
violations of US citizenship have however, drastically increased with no reasoning other
than trying to get a higher rate of those arrested. Buzzfeed News shared “105,140 were
convicted criminals, a decrease of nearly 600 from the previous fiscal year”. Another
beneficial piece of information that was stated was “Senate Appropriations Committee
has growing concerns about ICE’s lack of fiscal discipline”.

The way the system works, for every criminal charge or conviction there is a number
entered into the system to keep track overall. There is at minimum 200+ more
convictions that any other basic charge criminal or not. However, since Trump’s
presidency there has been an increase on deportation on the people who either have a
charge against them or any other violation.

My grandmother, a Trump supporter, wash shocked at this information. “That means

that we could be letting convicted criminals slip through the cracks” she said. The
numbers have spoken and it is time for others to as well on how we can improve our
system
